It's pretty fun for drifting, especially the small margin for error; go a little wide and you take out the back of your car on some scrap or pop a tire :)

Will you be able to bend the metal on the map or only the car?

Private [public] joke; some of the other guys thought they'd discovered the secret of our release plans based on the fraps file name :D

Currently they're just solids, I'm not sure if it's doable or not on such a large scale yet. Even so, if you really hit any of that stuff your car wouldn't be driving anymore.

That looks sick. These are also some of the best trees/foliage I've ever seen in any videogame O.O

Maybe you can put some of those big stone/metal knobs on the side of the water, where people put ropes to secure their boats? Might be fun to crash into as well :)

    WOW.
I cannot wait for BeamNG if this is the kind of stuff that will be in it.
You should make a big building kind of roughly and then have an aeroplane crashed into it for scenery and then adjust the building to look better and suit the aeroplane. If you get what I mean.
    Keep up the awesomeness.

Hutch, that looks absolutely stunning. I honestly never knew Torque3D could look this good.

I agree with the gymkhana thing - looks like a place Ken Block would shoot. This only tempts me further to make his HFHV one day, provided I can learn the n/b aspect of BeamNG well enough and I have the time between real life stuff.

Quick question: You modelled those grass and trees models or they come with Torque?

All trees and large vegetation animates using vertex painted animation (the "leaves" will rustle in the wind dynamically, similar to the way Crysis did it, as well as trunk movement), the grasses are more simple but move as well.

99.9% of everything in those screenshots is custom as far as I know; the only parts left from default Torque3d are the ripple textures for the water surface and the sun flare.

Will the grass and leaves and such react to you as you go through them, like if you run off the road, will the grass be flattened where you drove/

Not yet, still not sure about that. It would be cool though.

Some more pics of DRI from the recent blog post.
