Some French cars are beautiful: (I took this pic)Citroen SM Peugeot 306GTi-6 Renault 5 Renault 5 GT Turbo I love these.
Debatable. Most japanese manufacturers were still fairly "green" back then. Styling was often attractive but fairly derivative - think of the early Celicas nicknamed "the japanese Mustangs" - and reliability not yet up to the standards we came to know with their cars from the '80s onward.
Here's another pair which I find pretty. 1948 Delahaye 135 M Figoni et Falaschi Cabriolet 1950 Lago-Talbot T26C
Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery As for reliability, take a Datsun 510 and an Alfa Alfasud on a road trip. Let's see which one breaks first
Those were wonderful cars indeed. It's sad that those brands went defunct, but a lot of French brand went defunct right after WW2.
Yep, high taxes and high prices of coachwork postwar (and the overspending of money on an unsuccessful racing team in Lago-Talbot's case) meant that French luxury car brands were doomed to fail.
Probabaly common on this thread but... Alfa Romeo 159 (Top spec ) Alfa Romeo Guilia (latest) Italian flare and passion in an every day family car
