How to change default license plate?

So, is there anyway I can change the default letters on my license plate, other than changing my steam account name?

If you press CTRL+W there's a license plate editor at the bottom of the parts selector menu

 

I am aware. What I am trying to find out is how to set the default plate. Using the Ctrl W menu doesn't save after you close the game, load a new scenario, etc.

 

sorry for the necro but i find myself in the same scenario. Is there an option to tick off the "use steam name as license plate" somewhere? maybe i want my first car to have a realistic plate or to have something custom in it.

 

Thats intresting, I saved a 200BX with "KNIGHT" set as plate, and if I restart Beam and spawn it, it will say 4WDTURBO instead? (which is the default plate on my Covet)

 

Is there a way to change this in the future? it doesn't LOOK like something too hard to change and i personally would rather not have this automatically set up forever.

 

The mod linked in the OP still works in the current version. It's your best bet for now.

 

Yeah, it works, but its not QUITE what i hoped for.

 

Go to documents> BeamNG.Drive> settings> default.pc and in there you can change the license plate for all of the vehicles if you'd like.
