6 cars is quite a lot, in my opinion. It's 2017. You can't yet expect to launch a NASCAR race with full softbody physics on a relatively mediocre setup and have 60 fps
... Because he probably have a better pc. I can handle until 5-6 cars at 40 fps in high w/dynamic reflections. Fps go downhill quickly after that. It really depend on your system, especially your cpu. Don't bother changing PC, 6 cars at 60fps is already quite a lot. Probably with more and more optimisation I hope everyone will be able to run 20 cars... Why not? One day traffic will be needed, you can't leave a huge city without traffic. We can clearly expect traffic one day, with probably a smart system behind.
I'm probably only one with that opinion. I don't like driving physics. There is something not right with tires. This is the reason why I don't like race cars in BeamNG. Same with aerodynamics. Most spoilers are just decoration.
Traffic Would be cool, but at the moment that would simply be too complex and demanding for any computer out there. Unless you only want 2 cars as traffic. BTW, you can kind of create traffic with the current AI. Just set it to Random and let the AI do its thing. --- Post updated --- The game is pretty much the most realistic simulation game out there. Especially with its physics. Games like Gran Turismo or Forza Motorsport do a good job a stimulating, they are however far from realistic values. Also, look up the FR 17 mod, this mod really showcases BeamNG.drive's superior aerodynamics simulation.
1. The sound is my biggest issue after owning the game for 2.5 years. I know its beeing worked, its going to be an problem of the past, so no hard feelings. But its the thing that holds me back playing beamng more than 2 hours after an update. 2. Personally i dont like the FFB because i never get enough information through the wheel what the car is doing when driving on the limit. It could even be really realistic right now because IRL i dont feel too much of the car dynamics on a regular car through the wheel either. But most Sims with a good FFB provide information you would feel with your "butt-meter" IRL which makes its easier to predict what the car is doing. 3. I dont care too much about the graphicsfidelity and i like the artstyle and look of the game but the graphicsengine is performancewise not the best. I have a halfdecent PC but i cant get past 50fps, even without the eyecandy of dynamicreflections. (I5 6500, 16gb ddr4, amd rx380 4gb) As i know the devs are working on it and Torque3d was the best option to go for 5 years ago, what can you do? Also i've never seen a openworld racing game in cryengine or unrealengine so we dont know if one of them would have been the better option. 4. More of a unrealistic whish: Some NPC(ar)s randomly driving and standing around on the maps could help to bring more life to the game. Driving around alone on the maps is getting a bit boring over time and it feels a bit lifeless. I could add some AI cars but it isnt what im looking for. Im looking for cars dynamically spawning in and out while driving on the map. But even with the 6-8 cars my PC can handle at once it wouldnt do the trick on a map like WCA with a city. To render more cars it would need a a second physics system for NPCs which needs less CPU-power and the Softbody only kicking in on impacts like in Wreckfest. Thats probably the part where it gets unrealistic because the game wasnt developed with something like this in mind... but i would love it.
I know. I remember presentation with spinning object in zero gravity and that react exactly how in real life. My point is every tire have same grip for me. No matter if I use regular one or for race. Only tires for drag racing have different grip. Also I don't feel any differences if I driving in old Miramar, Burnise or ETK, Sunburst.
Sound isn't great, but being updated. Game is slow, again, being optimised. The game lacks content. But wait... We get it for free. I have no gripes with this game, because it is in alpha, thus, it's constantly being improved.
In generally, I love this game, however, there are only few things that make me rather sad (but not angry), because they are yet missing in the game. One of the things is, of course, the variety of the vehicles - currently, we have lots of Japanese and American vehicles, however, we are lacking a decent sized portion of European cars from Italy, France, Germany or Sweden - There are only 3 German cars, and only 1 Italian car. In addition to that, we also don't have much diversity in the vehicles themselves - we only have 1 semi-truck, and that's not much, considering that we could have some Russian, Swedish/German or Japanese trucks that may fill a large lack of heavy vehicles. Another thing is, the lack of sounds, because every vehicle sounds the same, except Covet, which I don't drive often, and that destroys immersion a little. I do know that more content and sounds are coming our way, however, that's my opinion on the situation currently.
Yea it's a little obnoxious. --- Post updated --- Believe me I tried. The AI just end up crashing into each other after a while.
The absence of any multiplayer. Why can't there be some kind of a multiplayer scenario where 3 or 4 cars compete in a race/rally/derby/offroad trial etc? I'm pretty sure most PCs can handle that.
The problem with online multiplayer (and what most annoys me about it being implemented) is how 99% of the community wants collisions in their MP experience. There is no way that any connection could provide enough power to handle 4 or 5 Beam cars. Wouldn't collision-less online MP be enough? Although...we do have multiseat.
Believe me I tried. They just cr If there are collisions it has to be 2 cars on low setting most likely.
Well, I'd even put up with a two car multiplayer. I am against collision-less MP though, because realistic collisions are BeamNG's signature feature and without them, it wouldn't be BeamNG to me.
The AI is extremely annoying sometimes trying to get them to do something as simple as go the right direction when chasing a car, lots of times the AI just drives off the road or tries to turn around for no reason when in chase mode.
