Steam overlay not working

So I've had this problem with Steam and BeamNg for a while now. The steam overlay just doesn't want to open! I have it enabled (works on all other games) and I don't have any other overlaying programs (Fraps etc.) What could be the solution to this mildly infuriating problem?

Would you happen to have any FPS counter; besides Steam's that monitor you're games FPS? If so, Turn it off and try again. Something would be interfering with it, but try reinstalling the game if you can't figure out the issue. I'll try to help with the best of my abilities.

As I said I have no other programs that could interfere with the overlay. But I will try to reinstall the game and see if that helps. I will update on this when I have done so.

Ummmmmm... I did something right. It just began working again. I have no idea what I did, but it works, so that's all that counts.
