i dont know if this is a bug in the game or if its on the modders/creators part. when pushing my breaks in beamng most cars dont stop. i mean when i have the car on 1st and have my breaks fully pushed the car still goes at a slow pace but it doesnt fully stop.

Yeah, they will improve that soon. The handbrake fails a lot too.

If you are still in 1st, the car will attempt to roll forward. You have to downshift to neutral to stop. In automatic mode, you can't really stop right now (since it just goes into reverse) but we are working on a proper manual automatic mode (P R N D 2 1) where you can hold the brakes in D to stop the car. We have also just improved the parking brake code massively, so it is much more stable and can hold the car on a hill.

Get behind the wheel of a real car with manual gearbox. Try and do what you describe.... The engine stalls. But beamNG doesnt have engine stalling so the engine still applies torque to the wheels causing it to move forwards at a slow pace. In a real car with manual gearbox if you want to stop, you have to put the clutch down or shift into neutral.

Gabe heres an idea for the automatic modes, CTR+ALT+(P,R,N,D,2,1) will set the car in that gear.

A realistic automatic hasn't been coded yet. It is in the to-do list.
