Hey guys, I was just curious as to the possibility of a multi-stage shock. Is it possible to have the first 20% of a shock at x dampening, then the next 20% different etc etc. Also, What about Hydraulic bump stops? Any insight would be much appreciated! Thanks
This is all very possible; take a look at the rally coilovers on the Covet, for example - they are using the advanced damper settings. It is also possible to make progressive springs and dampers by setting shortBound to 0 - the bound is not a hard limit, but rather a linear increase towards the values set over 1 meter. So if you set beamLimitSpring and beamLimitDamp to a certain value, and your bounded beams have 0.0 shortBound, the beam will constantly increase in stiffness and damping linearly as it compresses. You could even make compound springs - you can duplicate the same beam and give it different properties, to make something like a spring that only kicks in when the suspension has compressed enough (give it a hard limit and some shortBound where you want it to kick in). I think this is what you mean - you could duplicate the shocks and have their spring and damp set to 0, but give them whatever limitSpring and limitDamp you want, and use shortBound to determine at what point in travel they are enabled.
That's exactly what I was looking for! Thank you Edit: Also, I'm messing around with the pickup, is there a way to increase the precompression? I can't seem to see what beam is causing the limit. I removed the exhaust because it was causing a limit to one side, but there is a hard limit on how far down the rear suspension seems to go thanks again
I have another question, I have started to mess around in Blender, and I moved the Wheels, axle and hubs, but now I get this issue Any help would be great!
If you just move the entire wheel mesh, you probably also moved the pivot away from 0,0,0. Flexbodies MUST have their pivot at 0,0,0 and their transforms frozen/reset.
Thanks mrniz666 and gabester. I had no idea about the whole origin setting. This is probably the 2nd time I have ever opened a 3d editor Anyways, google showed me what the origin was once you told me I had to reset it and I got the results I wanted Thanks again! Now, to start learning modelling to get rid of the nasty gaps in the upper and lower arms
Broken record here. Smoothing groups Assuming you're using Blender; just run an edge split on everything with the angle set to something like 60-80.
