Does anyone know how to go about making the Garvil D-Series into a Front wheel drive 4x4? A few days ago i realized that I could take the front driveshaft off of the 4wd D series. I spent a decent amount of time running the configuration through trials, with various suspensions, chassis, drive train etc. The only real downside that i really cared about was the obvious lack of off road capabilities, especially the hills.

Is there anyone that could point me in the right direction on programming a Front wheel drive 4x4 Garvil D-Series?

Did you read the last part of my post? :p

I apologize for my lack of clarity. I would like to make a D series that is primarily a FWD vehicle with a select-able 4wd option.

    Hi, welcome to the forums!

What you're asking for is totally possible, but it requires creating a mod that modifies the powertrain code for the pickup.

Here's the BeamNG wiki: Link It contains many great resources about modding to help you get started.
Also, here's our specific wiki page on how the powertrain code works: Link

If you need additional help understanding anything in the wiki pages, don't hesitate to ask.

    Good luck! :)

Basically, you want a front wheel drive based 4WD vehicle. Maybe get some inspirations from the Sunburst since that how its drivetrain works?

I don't know a lot about modding (I know really nothing about modding, just really interested in it), but if the Sunburst can detect that one of the wheels is losing traction, it will send power to the rear wheels. Knowing that, my suggestion would be to go through the scripts or code (the thing developers write to make everything work) and find the line of code that change in the way the power is sent to the different wheels.

Another idea: take the Sunburst's frame, stretch it and put the D-series body on it.

The Sunburst is unibody, so that isn't really possible.

EDIT: It would be a very interesting idea, and I almost want to see something like a Sunburst based pickup done in a similar style to the Subaru Baja.

What you need, is a custom 4WD powertrain, with the splitShaft for the front wheels set on the rear wheels, basically switching it from RWD to FWD.

By the way, the Sunburst is AWD, so naturally it would send power to the wheels with the most grip, as it has got a viscous center differential.

I think that even if the Sunburst is unibody, it would be still possible to ''cut'' the underside from the rest of the car. This will take a lot of time to make everything right though.

I see what you mean, a Sunburst shell on a frame of a pickup. It wouldn't work in real life, but this is a video game so it could be possible. Maybe I might try this in the future for my first mod.
