Hi! I recently bought a T300 GT Steering Wheel and a Next level Wheel stand.

I mainly got it so that I could get better att racing games.

Then I started thinking that it would be fun to try some kind of simulator.

This seems cool but I have two questions.

    1. Driving different cars and being able to do stunts and so on is one reason I guess.
Maybe driving a car at all if you are not old enough to do so in real life.

But since it seems popular with these kind of games I wonder if the are any goals in the game? (To make it more like a game)

    2. Any ideas when this game will be available?

    1. There are short mission type scenarios and a few short campaigns that are basically scenarios in series. There will be a career mode later. Other than that, there are no real goals. You however have a physics sandbox with a very few limits on what you can do and mods add a lot of new things.

    2. Alpha version is already available here: https://www.beamng.com
Full release will come once it is ready. We don't know when that is.

    Thank you for your reply.

Don´t get me wrong but if there is no point to the game, why do people keep playing games like this?

I guess that is because of the mods and endless possibilities. You can do your own stunts, practise drifting or tune a car to your liking. I really don't know what keeps people playing it as there are many things one can do. I personally have about 770 hours in this game now and I can't give a simple answer.

Most of the time I've recently spent in this game comes from modding it. That takes some time and I like seeing something in the game that I cobbled together with my own hands. But I guess everyone is different and will have different experiences with BeamNG.

As Taza said, there is no simple answer, everyone has their own reason to why people play the game without career mode. I have 270 hours logged steam for this game (not much by the standards of this forum community) and only have a couple of mods (mostly maps). Its kinda like Minecraft in that there are many ways to play it. Some people like the modding aspect, some people like playing with the soft body physics, some people like racing with a simulator (one which allows far greater freedom than most to customize cars and explore maps) etc....

I have like, 800+ hours? in game.
...and I hardly even play it, I just like to make things. I mean... making a map, making a car, making a config, making just about anything - you can do it in this game. I think that is another big part of the appeal that the game has - ease of access when it comes to modding. Seriously, this game's mod community is astounding. Although there are some rude folks here, for the most part this community is a welcoming and willing-to-help community. Chances are, if you have an issue with your mod - you can get help with it relatively quickly. Compared to other games where it is mostly just "you're on your own" approach to modding.

Really, this is a game where you just play it like you want to.
If you want to create stuff - then create it.
If you want to smash stuff - smash it.
If you want to photograph stuff - there's an in-game photo maker.
If you want to chain together two supercars and have them accelerate away from each other - then do it.

You make your own goals. If you really want "goals" to do in game, scenarios exist to do exactly that. Also, you can always just make up a "scenario" for yourself - like seeing how far you can drive around Utah in reverse without crashing, or climbing Cliff map, or "rallying" the pigeon without flipping it.
It might be a simulator, but it is also a sandbox :p

    Ok, I see :)

Well, I don't think this game is for me but I get why people like it.

Kind of when you work on car all winter only to ride it in the summer short trips.
