Note: This mod is outdated. Newer Mod for remaster T-series is here: https://www.beamng.com/resources/t-series-dual-shift-plus-12-speed.29225/ T-Series Range/Splitter 12-speed So by default, the Gavril T-Series comes with a 12-speed manual transmission which for those using steering wheels with H-pattern shifters in Beamng is practically unusable. one solution offered by other mods is a 12-speed automatic transmission which while it works doesn't provide the immersion of a stick shift. My solution based on both real life and the game Euro Truck Simulator 2 is to have a 6-speed manual shifter connected to either a range or splitter box giving you effectively 12 gears. What is a Range/Splitter box? Basically, range/splitter boxes toggle between 2 gears for each gear position. So with a range box, the gearing would be like this. Low Range:1,2,3,4,5,6 <> High Range:7,8,9,10,11,12 And for the splitter box. Low Range:1,3,5,7,9,11 <> High Range:2,4,6,8,10,12 How to Use - Spawn a T-Series - Change the transmission out for the 12-speed manual with either a (Range) or (Splitter) Suffix depending on which one you desire - Change the transfer case out for either the single or interlocking also with either a (Range) or (Splitter) based on your choice above. (Not as of update 0.3) - Change the driveshaft to one with the suffix "(Rangebox)". -Switch between ranges using either the onscreen button from the "Simple Powertrain Controls" App or bind a key to "Toggle Range Status". - Enjoy. Semi Euro Truck - Same as T-Series except there is also a 10-speed transmission option available Barstow Over-Diff This adds a range box to the rear differential of the Gavril Barstow in order to provide an overdrive for each gear. this is inspired by the DougNash 4+3 Transmissions found on some 80s corvettes. The backstory is that the Gavril's engineering department was tasked with making the Barstow 423 'Big Block' meet the new fuel economy standards of the time for as cheaply as possible. their solution was mounting the 2-speed gearbox from the Burnside without the torque converter backward onto the rear differential. They called there new Frankenstein concoction the "Over-Diff". How to Use - Spawn a Bastow - swap the rear differential for the "Over-Diff" - Switch between ranges using either the onscreen button from the "Simple Powertrain Controls" App or bind a key to "Toggle Range Status". - Enjoy the extra mileage Known issues - Gear spacing is still WIP To Do/Future Plans - Add physical models (Update 0.2) - T-Series: Move Range box from transfer case to transmission. (Update 0.3) - Semi Euro Truck mod support (Update 0.3) - Eaton-Fuller Style 18-speed Range+Splitter Transmission (possibly) - 24-speed transmission(12 speed + Range box) - 12-speed manual(D-Series) Version History 0.1 - First Release 0.2 - Added models from stock T-Series. 0.3 - T-series: Moved range box from transfer case to transmission and replaced the four transfer cases with two driveshafts, tweaked gearing. Semi Euro Truck: Added support for both 10 and 12-speed options.
I love this mod!! Do you think you could make a 12 speed to work with transfer case so you would have a 24 speed? Also this would be good to add to the pick up for towing.
Glad you like it. As for the 12 speed I could tweak it to work with the rangboxes but before that I am planning on designing the 18-speed Eaton-Fuller transmission first. As for the pickup it already has a range box so it would be a bit pointless making my own one although changing out the 5-speed manual for a 12-speed
Update 0.3 T-series: Moved range box from transfer case to transmission and replaced the four transfer cases with two driveshafts, tweaked gearing. Semi Euro Truck: Added support for both 10 and 12-speed options.
I love this mod, and have been using it since then, but now, now, it is broken.. Here's a video.. Yeah not good Stock:
What I didn't know that, thank you.XD However this 10-speed automatic suffer from "RPM Overshoot" problem, Same as the 6-speed automatic in the pickup.https://www.beamng.com/threads/auto-transmission-issues.54382/#post-849593
RPM overshoot, yeah that is lack of throttlecut, not sure why it is added. Or do you mean RPM overshoot as in the revs go beyond the highest horsepower RPM, that is quite normal. If you haven't update your game might have been fixed silently. If necessary i can probably do a quick little mod that has a 6 speed ZF, it'll be quite easy to port from the bus.
