The second championship is now over, so what should we do for the third?
I think we should have the same car for everyone (there would be a config to download), but I'd love to hear your thoughts too :)

This certainly was an amazing championship. The sheer variety of tactics, differences in the powertrains and horsepower, and balances of power and grip that we all had were amazing. Some of us (like me) went more for the power end of the spectrum with front-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive cars, while people like @mslittow went for the handling end with underpowered Covets and 200BXs with absurd cornering speed. Of course, that "Brown Bullet" 200BX was stupendously quick in the second and third rounds (beating me and my Pessima by over 7 seconds in total), so I think that @mslittow deserves a victory here for being so crazy fast. I also learned quite a bit more about tuning and technique than I did in the first championship (where I just stuck race tires, an ultra-light flywheel, and a spoiler on the LeGran Custom and had at it), which was amazing. Finally, this really did prove the notion that you don't need hundreds of thousands of dollars to make a good autocross car; why, it only took us $5K each to build our cars, and they still are plenty quick for being old sedans, sports coupes, hatchbacks, and trucks with less than 250 horsepower.

That being said, here's a massive suggestion that @enjoyinorc6742 suggested, which I then took to the extreme: weight classes.

I'll let these lists do the explaining for me (everything under Class B should have a lightened flywheel, while everything above should have an ultra-light flywheel, by the way.)

If we are going to do this cycled-production championship, though, I think that we should do it with something that isn't made for autocross; something like a base-model Pigeon, a base-model Miramar, a lower-end Moonhawk or Barstow, an HX '88 Pessima, and other Class-5-and-lower cars.

How about rallying? We never tried it before. It would be interesting. There will no money restrictions and it also divided to 2 groups:
    1. Group A:
    • 4 wheel drive transmissions
    • 2 liter turbo charged engines or smaller
    • Front mounted engines (longitudinal or transversal like the Ibishu Pessima and Hirochi Sunburst)
    • minimum weight of 1230 Kg
    2. Group B:
    • no drivetrain restrictions
    • no engine size and power restriction
    • no engine placement restriction
    • Weight needs to be as low as possible

Having the same car for the next championship sounds okay, but we should change the config/car for each track. You could include weird configs too, to make it interesting.
Weight classes are a great idea for the future as well.

Ok, so I'll make 5-6 configs of different weight classes (maybe include some custom engines/tuning), and you can swap them each event? Sound nice.
Maybe have a time deduction if you are at a disadvantage?

I may be very late with this, BUT....I got 6 configs from three eras, 2 configs an era. Three of them are power-oriented, while three of them are handling-oriented. In each event, we can use only one car from one era. (Config filenames in parentheses)

    Era 1: 1950s-1970s:
    Power build:
Burnside Lead Sled with the drag engine, a 3-speed manual, a 3.31:1 open rear diff, and a high-performance drag radiator. (Super_powered_Burnside)
Handling build: Miramar Track with the 1.6-liter SOHC engine. (Super_handling_Miramar)
    screenshot_00027.png
    Era 2: 1980s-1990s:
    Power build:
ETK 3000ix with the Stage 3 turbo tuned to the max. (Super_powered_ETKI)
Handling build: LeGran Custom with the 3.3-liter V6, race tires, and a luggage-rack rear spoiler. (Super_handling_LeGran)
    screenshot_00028.png
    Era 3: 2000s:
    Power build:
SBR4 AWD S with stock suspension and brakes, and the 2.5-liter F4 with the Stage 3 turbos tuned to the max. (Super_powered_SBR4)
Handling build: ETK Kc6tx with race suspension and brakes, rear-wheel-drive, a Nomi GTC wing, and a N/A 3.0-liter L6. (Super_handling_ETKC)

Is the race still in the procedural tracks?

Yes, the main events will always be on the tracks.
    --- Post updated ---
I personally think we should have 1 set car for the championship, and everyone drives that one car.
Next championship I think weight classes would do best, because there's a lot of classes and not very many participants yet.

I think that we should use the Bolide 320, the Miramar Street Tuned, or the Sunburst Sport as the one car. They're light, good-handling, decently-powerful, relatively easy to drive, and they also aren't all-wheel-drive, high-powered monsters with massive slicks and crazy bodykits, making cornering speed of greater importance in determining victory.

Also, here's my mega-list of tracks that we could use, again.

May I ask what car(s) you have thought of using yet? Or have you completely forgotten about the championship for modding? If you have forgotten about this, that's okay. I guess I sort of forgot about this, as well.

    Sorry, mid-semester exams.
Anyways, the Bolide 320 seems perfect, because it's pretty hard to control. And if everyone's going to have the same car, it needs to be hard.
    Any last suggestions?

Can I be the one who make the config for the Bolide?

When will this be ready I wonder, I can't wait :p
I also like the thought of weight classes, but I feel that if you take away the vehicle limitations then you will have one vehicle at the top of the board for its platform, I would like to see that type of racing put to the test
I am most interested in weight class 5 :p with the D-Series class A or class B

Oh, excellent. I thought that the Bolide 320 would be a good choice for a same-car race. Also, don't worry if you have to take time off to get your mid-terms done. School should be your #1 priority here.

As for tracks, what are you thinking we should use? I personally think we should use these three tracks:

    "Monte Carlo Autocross":
    Laps: 1
    Checkpoints/lap: 21
    Seed: 22454339720

    "Piccolo Monza":
    Laps:
    2
    Checkpoints/lap: 27
    Seed: 57671562827

    "Mille Miglia":
    Laps:
    3
    Checkpoints/lap: 27
    Seed: 18092406897

I think that these three tracks would be suitable for testing people's skill with the Bolide.

It will be ready When It's Ready(tm).

So, pretty much, you want to do racing where we stick all the upgrades we can on any vehicle we want and go racing with that? Makes sense. It'd pretty much be an "ultimate" racing test to see which vehicle can handle, brake, and accelerate the best. However, I'd prefer to allow people to build vehicles in weight classes up to a certain performance class, so that we could have a Class E Miramar compete against a Class E D-Series, a Class D Covet against a Class D '96 Pessima, a Class C Bolide against a Class C Grand Marshal, etc., to allow for a lot of variation.

Also, judging by your interests, I sense that you are most likely to try and stuff 500-600+ horsepower into an AWD D-Series that will barely be able to handle that power through the corners.

Alright, I'll be home later today, so it should be online before the end of the weekend :)
Also, I have an idea for next time. You build any car, then nominate someone to drive it.

Should we have some sort of limit on how terrible these cars will be to drive? I'm asking this as I can apparently make anything terrible to drive. Even an SBR4 under my powers of tuning can morph from a beautifully-handling machine to an over-powered, sloshy, understeery and oversteery, twitchy boat of a vehicle.

with modded parts (if permitted) I can actually put 430hp down pretty good with rwd, which is why I am interested in the lower classes, so imagine if I can lower weight and add a front diff o.o

Oh, I didn't know that. Also, I'm not sure if we're going to be using modded parts for the weight-classes championship; we'll have to see what the majority of people want, but I reckon that it wouldn't hurt to have modded parts for the higher weight classes. Why, that may help them, considering that they're likely not going to be very fast through the corners compared to a lighter car of the same performance class.
