Someone did an engine swap. It is common for people to swap in super bike engines into kei cars because they can. --- Post updated --- So it's the usual. Still waiting for a new Vehicle.
Even with two developers working full-time on Italy with nothing else on their plate, I seriously doubt that Italy could be made ready in time for Christmas. Remember, Italy is four times larger than any official map ever, not counting featureless maps like Grid Small Pure. There is so much countryside that needs detailing, no fewer than six towns (there appear to be more than six, but only six are labelled in the most recent plan) and a large city that all need intensive detailing, an industrial complex, an entire airport, and an absolutely staggering amount of mountain roads that need to be given roadside objects, plus all of the bridges and tunnels that those are likely to require. It's probably best to think of Italy as far-off into the future at this point. Its development could possibly take even a few more years, just because of the sheer scale of the undertaking.
Exactly. I'm not expecting Italy any time soon. This reminds me of this post I did back in January: So far, 3 of those guesses were correct.
A 658cc diesel is not a superbike engine. RE: Italy's size. Is it going to have a lower heightmap resolution, or are there major upgrades to maximum heightmap size incoming?
@ktheminecraftfan was referring to the 600cc engine in the Pigeon 600. Also, I believe that that's what may happen, in terms of major upgrades to heightmap size. After all, it would look weird having a heightmap for Italy that is half as detailed as the heightmaps for maps like Utah or WCA. If they wish to make their city look so twisty and Italian, then they would likely want to increase the max heightmap size, which would be fantastic.
I saw in the "https://blog.beamng.com/development-sneak-peek-3/" the below picture... One can almost guess that there is a race going on? Is it only a "staged" picture, or is there actual racing features being developed now?
You can "race" right now, but the Ai just doesn't care about the vehicles around That might be why cars are stripped out
But if the cars don't care where other cars are, then why would they not be in a line or something like that. To me, it looks like they are aware on that photo and trying to do the overtake on the outside, or perhaps on the inside... @B25Mitch, dare to comment? Have I read to much into the screenshot? Is it only a "staged" photo or is it more to it, some competition going on or something?
Yep. From January 1976 to March 1990 the engine size limit was 550cc, which makes the pigeon technically not a kei car. There wasn't a power limit until 1990 (Pigeon was discontinued in 1989) so the only restriction to engine power would be the laws of thermodynamics Of course, the 600cc engine would still have been to big for the legal requirements of the time for a kei car.
It's staged I'm fairly sure, only one car has any smoke coming form the tires despite it looking like they are all taking the corner in a drift, and non of the cars have any visible steeringlock. I feel like they should just add a third engine to it that complies with Kei regulations if that's all that it disqualifies it, the current diesel could be for non-jdm varrients
Only one car appears to be taking the corner in a drift; the other 3 are doing it efficiently Also, the body lean on all of these cars would suggest that they're actually moving, although it wouldn't be hard to fake it with the node grabber.
It's not staged, this is a race scenario set up on the drift track. As you can probably tell I was controlling the Barstow.
So is there real race functionality coming in the upcoming patch or is it coming down the road? Just curious. Impressive work by you on the map regardless.
How much faster has the AI gotten because of this addition? For now, I'm gaining massive time on them in pretty much any corner, especially 90-degree ones like on VR City. Every time they approach a corner, they prefer to stick to the middle, going nowhere near the apex (in random mode) and risking a crash into whatever's on the outside (in flee mode), or going way to the inside and risking a crash again (in chase and flee mode). As far as I can see here, that seems to have been improved, as I see two AI cars (the Covet and 200BX) driving a lot more realistically than they normally would.
Probably so, and I'll be disappointed if that's the case. But there's always that chance that Gabester could surprise us with a screen of the Bluebuck in game before the update's release.
