could you imagine what this thing could be capable of if it got the big backing of a company like Sony or Microsoft..Apple doesnt count they would charge like $6 grand for it...per unit..

I doubt it would be much different, i can actually imagine them gimping it so that their consoles can play nice with it. There are some very cleaver people working on the rift as it is, i don't think they need a huge corporate structure that would do its best to squeeze every penny possible out of this project.

I have a rift as well, (And still have a giggle whenever I come across the thread on beamng about only .01% of users using one)

I can't for the life of me get it to work with beamng. Just the same as with TDU2, it ran once and that was it. I'm using tridef for now, but no dice.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I know tridef is running, I can see the icon, but no double vision. It does drop the res down though.

P.S. to the devs, the oculus is the #1 piece of kit to be excited about in the coming year. So yes, you should support it :)

If you read through the thread, support for BeamNG was removed, but is coming back

What I meant was to make it a priority. You could easily increase sales of drive if it had built in oculus support, especially before the retail kit ships.

I know it's being put in with an update, but there's more to oculus support than just fixing a driver. Lots of little UI & view issues to sort out.

P.S. has anyone managed to get it working with oculus & TriDef?

looking into getting a rift, is it worth getting the dev kit? or would it be better wait for the consumer version? (as ive heard its coming out pretty soon now, hoping its not rediculously priced)

I'm waiting for the consumer version. The resolution on the devkit is lower than consumer and although I don't normally care about something like 720p vs 1080p on a TV at the other end of the room too much, a screen which is right in your face is an entirely different matter and you can see the pixels really clearly on the devkit.

Im waiting for the consumer one. Any issues should be ironed out by then so the retail model should be a really nice piece of kit, not to say the dev version isn't.

I'd also go with waiting ... for now it's only for real developers. I dare to buy one if you're consumer because then people who need them for actual work won't get one because of the silly waiting times. I had to wait for mine for around 2 months and it pisses me off to see people like Pewdiepie on YT demoing the Oculus.

Also in 720p you can really count the pixels, it's feels like 50ppi or less. 1080 is recommended, better would be 1440p.

well, as long as its not to expensive (btw, im not like some people, to where $150 is "Pocket money" so, thats my defenition of "To expensive") then yeah ill get the consumer version (edit after proof-reading, accidently said dev kit, when i meant consumer version, lol)

once the consumer version comes out, ill try this, as i happen to have a steering wheel, and an input map for it :)

I picked mine up off kijiji (Canadian version of craigslist)

Cost me $350 and I can resell it anytime and not lose anything (for the next few months anyway)

I love using it, I use it all the time. Lunar Flight is amazing with it, War Thunder is a thrill as well. I think whether you should wait or buy a dev kit is totally up to you. I don't regret getting the dev kit at all, it's just too cool for school.

I would urge you try it if you get a chance, there are tons of people around willing to give you a demo.

My college has a few oculus rift devices(oculi?), though you need a damn good reason to use one for a day. :p Some friends are following the VR lessons, so maybe I'll be able to test it someday.

Race update will be released soon with native Rift support, so you just have to wait a little bit more for headtracking :)
