There shouldn't be a drastic difference over the 2 versions though. Regardless of the PC. Web browsers don't do anything but browse the web, so the speed of them is really one of the only things that makes one better than another one. If you update it and it's slower than before, then you'll consider using a different browser which is quicker. I'd imagine the people behind Firefox don't want this, so they'll probably need to sort out the performance issues some people are having pretty quickly. The previous version of Firefox was slow on my laptop, so I'm currently using Opera on it. Yeah, there are a few less features, add-ons and whatever, but it's much quicker at browsing the web than Firefox was. Which is much more useful since the thing is only ever used for music and videos
Firefox has always been a little bit finicky with YouTube hardware acceleration imo, but Opera was worse. Anyway now for a public transport moan: So I normally get a bus, comes every half hour, so i get out of school at half three, which the bus leaves the stop at (stop is about 10min walk away) so I wait for the 4 o clock bus, which is actually scheduled for 15:50 but has never achieved that time AFAIK. All good until that bus service gets cut out (breakdown etc) so I wait for the half four bus to come, comes at 16:55 and only goes to the town centre, so I get off, wait another 10 mins for a packed bus to take me home, as all of those buses were late and a few also cut out. Note all these buses were from First group buses.. Arriva do a 1 service and it was completely unfaultered, doing its regular robust every 10 minute service. And why don't I get an Arriva bus? Well I have a First bus pass, so that restricts me to first buses, but look what comes through the door, another First bus pass! So until Easter I have to put up with this bus company again... Council have a deal with first bus pass and my family is low income so I get free transport, might even consider getting a job just to pay for a bus ticket that will guarantee I get home, in under 2 hours!
I actually seemed to get better Youtube performance on Opera. But that might just be me. Anyway, is that the First buses in the UK? Because they're terrible. Almost, if ever on time. It reminds me of my old school bus. I can't remember what company it was as it was awhile ago (it might even have been private). But a good 4/10 times when leaving school (not a single time going too school) the bus driver would say the bus had broken down. The bus hadn't infact broken down atall (and he would normally say this with the engine running). It was an older bus, and on hotter days without much wind, he would sit there with the engine running for 10-15 minutes, and the temp would go up alittle. He considered this a break down. When in reality all he had to do was get moving, and get some air through the radiator. To be fair, I just think he didn't want to drive anywhere with a bus full of kids...
Opera and chrome both hardware accelerate ok for me, edge hardware accelerates amazingly, firefox never
If anyone has ever wondered what was inside one of those xbox 360 controller battery packs, a pair of 650mAh 1.2v AA Nickel metal hydride cells wired in series going to a little regulator board.
https://halite.io/ Cool coding competition, I'd recommend anyone who know the slightest about coding check it out
Why is it the packs on those controllers always had to be cellotaped in or something. Everyone I knew who had a 360 always praised those controllers. Yet I've never met anyone with a good conditioned one. The buttons were always bad, or they would always disconnect because the battery thing fell out. Don't sound that great if you ask me...
Just bought another stereo receiver which I'll be picking up Sunday and I was studying the service manual, checking how to perform Idle current and DC offset adjustments and luckily noticed an issue with the schematic, the SM states to adjust VR1 (variable resistor) for DC offset and VR3 for idle current, 2 and 4 for the other channel, but it's wrong VR1 and 2 adjust Idling current and VR3 and 4 Adjust DC offset. Lucky I checked the Schematic and noticed it... Not like Pioneer to make mistakes like that. It would have sounded terrible with no idle current and 20mV DC offset.. --- Post updated --- Probably because controllers get dropped a lot by accident or by rage, sometimes both. The battery pack is heavy and the little tab that holds it in is pretty fragile, buttons probably go bad due to the carbon contacts wearing off/ getting dirty on the rubber membrane the button pushes down on which shorts the contacts.
The rubber for the analog sticks peel off and the battery packs always come loose. Not even 5 rubber bands hold it for more that 10 minutes
Anyone know if the Xbox One controllers are any better? I may get one for my PC, but I'm also interested if anyone has any other suggestions. My old DS3 isn't quite cutting it anymore...
I have to agree with edge working better on relatively underpowered hardware. My 2nd gen i5 ThinkPad drops frames on 1080p60 YouTube in chrome, and doesn't drop any frames due to hardware in Edge. That's all I ever really use edge for.
Early XB1 controllers were terrible. The one I got with my XB1 broke within a few weeks and every new one I bought since then broke even faster (Stick drift, buttons not working, sticks breaking entirely) and I don't even throw controllers around that much (which the controller should take just fine according to M$). The one I have now (a white one without the IR and with the headphone jack) has been working fine for over a year though but that could be cause I don't really use it that much (and I don't play with that POS XB1 anymore...). Still, you can tell that their quality has improved a lot since 2013. If you're not into the Steam Controller the XB1 controller is your best choice for PC gaming IMHO
Firefox seemed to update itself on my computer yesterday, haven't had any problems with it yet. On a side note Justice League is out! And it's... okay. Not that I care, I stopped following this franchise when everyone else did.
