Because the pen is mightier than the sword. not all men solve their disputes with violence. some use scathing words and diplomacy instead.
Just a potential suggestion... The Vendetta looks quite promising to be a pursuit-rated vehicle as far as I can tell by the development screenshots.
I'm gonna throw my $0.02 and say I'm glad its been named, and I actually voted for that name. I was sick of seeing all this crap about what it could be named. Tremendous job on what you've done by the way, I can not wait for its release!
Thanks Patience is key here, I still have a bit of work to do, primarily with body UVs. If anyone would be willing to help me out with this part of the UVing process, that'd be great. I have most of the other things that are going to be UV mapped already UV mapped and textured, with only a couple big areas left to do. Its just that my workflow for UVs, unwrap each individual part or section and have it on its own UV and texture set, might conflict with the skins system. And the last time I unwrapped a vehicle for skins, I got extremely distorted parts. I will be asking for a few skins from those I choose when I have a proper skins UV layer. I don't need a skins mega-pack, Just a nice handful. As for the model and JBeam, I think I can do most of it. I already have a good chunk of the JBeam done, I just need to finish out separating some parts from the main body still, finish up the Collision Triangles, and do some deformation tweaking and break-group magic. Everything that's on the vehicle right now visually, is JBeamed. As for simple things I've been doing, Well I started working on properly JBeaming the hood. I had previously left it as part of the front clip for pictures. Now I modified the hood from the Barstow (Again to make quicker work out of some things,) to fit the Vendetta's hood and attached it. I just need to flip where the hinges are, and the hood will be done until I go back through with deformation tweaking stuff. I also added in exhaust pipes; They look like they conflict with the rear suspension visually, however they seem to match the routing I've found when googling them on the actual C3 vettes. They run directly underneath the differential, so they theoretically shouldn't conflict with the Independent rear suspension setup. I also opted to run these ones facing downward instead of going into exhaust extensions. I could have easily done it either way, but this works just fine. I also am considering doing side exhaust pipes for higher output configs and potential race configs, and they will be significantly nicer looking than these ones. Also the spiking in the front clip is not from a messy JBeam, its from an issue I was having with the Solidify modifier I was using to give it some even thickness. I just forgot to clean it up, and in the next shots of the underside I should have those sorted out. And I ported over the mirrors from the Barstow; I had to edit the base a bit, but it was a fairly easy transition. I had built my doors almost exactly the same way the Barstows doors are laid out, so it was also easy just to re-position the nodes and connect the relevant beams in the mirrors JBeam file. Interesting to note, this may be helpful to those of you who are setting up custom mirrors; The mirrors on the Barstow use a material called "mirror" This is not located in the materials.cs file of the Barstow, so its more than likely a "common" thing or referencing something built into the core of the game. This material allows for a more realistic mirror surface when applied to the UV unwrapped area on the mirror that will be the actual mirror. Lastly I was also tweaking the rear ride height a bit, after I had noticed that the wheels on my other config for this, named "tux", with 15x7 classic steel wheels on it, the rear wheels were not clearing the wheel wells very well. Again the only assistance I could use on the model would be proper UV maps for the body. I can take care of doing the texture side of things once everything is unwrapped. Message me if you can help with the body UVs. I can explain a bit more and with pictures if need be there.
Interesting. Will take a closer look later. I had just begun unwrapping the main body shell, so I am atleast finishing that up right now. The issue I have with UVing is if I want to have a new front clip part for lets say wide body fender flares, I have to perfectly re-align the additions to fit the already existing texture layouts. Especially important for skin support. The other issue I have with, particularly skins UVs, is that when I've unwrapped them in the past, they always turn out distorted, or I miss parts of the body. That video's useful for packing the textures into one UV and as a result one texture layout, but not for when you have 2 of almost the same part but on one you have a new addition that has to match up to existing UVs. --- Post updated --- I apologize if I am missing the point or anything... UVing is probably my weakest point about modeling stuff, especially when I have a ton of people begging for add ons, hood bulges, hood cuts, fixed headlights, portholes in the roof, and other s**t, and on my end I am sitting here going "How the hell am I gonna UV all of this stuff and still have skins support" As for JBeaming and modeling the stuff, that's pretty elementary to me at this point.
For the uv's you could finish most of the base of the car and release a prebeta for people to test out and find bugs that need fixing. That way it will give you insite on opinions from the community and more time to work on the UV's without people screaming at you to release the mod because after about a couple weeks people start to spam is it gonna release soon. But of course this is just my opinion.
Nope not taking name suggestions anymore, I already have a name that the community is happy with If you keep suggesting names from now on, I will ask a moderator to remove the (now) spam posts, and/or lock the thread. Plenty of the names already suggested would make interesting part names, configs, ect. I have plenty to work with right now And posts like yours are starting to annoy more than just one or 2 forum members. I did that essentially with the Blue Collar. 0.11 came around and broke it and I was already working on another mod (this one,) because I lost interest in the Blue Collar and really didn't want to finish it up anymore without first restarting it as a fresh project. This time I want something I am happy with releasing the way I want to the first time, instead of rushing it. If it doesn't have wide-body fender flares, so be it. If it doesn't have that specific flamed paintjob, thats fine. I build my cars based around how I see them and what I would want to use them for. If I am going to do skins UV's, Which I will do shortly, then I want to try and avoid making excess stuff I would never use on the car myself. You're not paying me to make this, so I don't feel completely obligated to add something just because you said so. I will release the mod when I am ready to, and if I feel like the criticisms I get are worth my time, I will address them. If I do beta testing, I will contact specific individuals on the forums for it. (The Blue Collar turned into a mess when I did semi-open beta anyway, nearly releasing a version that was completely broken because the majority of the kids who tested it didn't tell me everything about what was wrong with it. Ik of a few people from that fisaco who'd I would still let test my mods, though I could count how many there are on one hand, Possibly one finger if I was being really picky.) Not trying to be rude, just stating where I am coming from on this. I like to hear suggestions, its just that sometimes people lose sight of the fact that its my project that I am willingly sharing with the forums. I am planning on at-least some trim options for different model years, like a banshee inspired grille for later model years, and the stock corvette grille for the earliest model years, and something else for the mid life models. I also intend on doing side mounted exhaust pipes for non widebody racecars. Same with fixed headlights for certain spec racecars. I have alot of ideas still in my head, so wait and see, maybe you might just like what I have in store
Yes of course il be happy to see whats coming then and Il stay posted for more info on whats to come. Keep it up!
First of all, I LOVE the C3 Corvette. Kudos to you for making this. Second of all, what happened to the Valiant you were working on, I cant find the forum anywhere
1; Np, I like C3 corvettes too. 2; The Valiant was broken by 0.11, I will have to redo it at some point along with the Blue Collar and another mod. Quite a shame really, it was near ready for a release Tonight has been an ok night on progress. I got the first set of UVs done for the main body. The next set will be skins UVs. Right now I am using the first set of UVs for Normal maps, and that has already helped out tremendously ; Next up, I made a simple facelift grille insert based around the shape of the 1964 Pontiac Banshee's grille; I added in inner fenders, though I still need to add a node or 2 for weight I also need to fix the exhaust headers... Somehow I missed that Lastly, I did something... Popups Fixed mount headlights Tomorrow will be more random bits and pieces for the mod, hopefully I can get the small trim crap out of the way and tweaks done so I can start working on configs
I can't with the coupe style roof that I chose unfortunately However I am planning a hardtop convertible version, and the dual purpose roof here saves me a lot of work whilst still looking cool and providing an easy conversion to hardtop convertible. I say it's a win win. I am also planning a rear luggage rack, maybe even a suitcase prop to go alongsidee it
