Now, you can completely disregard this, but have you thought about including AI traffic into the game/simulator (delete as appropriate) now I'm aware that this is a massive thing to include and the coding for the routing must be ridiculous, but it could add a sense of realism to the game. Plus if people want to play offline they have the population that could be found on-line without the problem of straining their internet. I was just wondering if you had thought about it?
Seems like I good idea but I really doubt it's worth doing it, AI will never be like the humans. It will be nothing like playing with people. Take for example, playing as a truck driver and loader, it wouldn't work so well with the ai, but it works well with people. Just saying, either perfect or just don't do it, but even making it good is a lot of work.
Yeah i guess you're right about that but it wouldn't have to be complex stuff like truck loading like you said, more like cars just pootling about and such haha. But i do have to agree about the do it good or not at all statement.
I think that traffic is rather important and an integral part of an open world driving game, how it would be achieved without a major performance hit is another matter entirely however...
Yeah its the performance that's the issue, not everyone has a "super" computer to run what looks like a very graphic demanding application.
May be possible if the AI vehicles in traffic didn't have a node/beam physics skeleton unless something hits them. So we only have the physics as and when the physics are needed.
IMO... The best sort of "AI" would be from real people via multiplayer (yes I know, tdev said multiplayer would be implemented later possibly.)
AI is a terrible idea. the devs would be unsatisfied with anything but a perfect AI, because only perfection would compliment this game. the problem with this is that this perfect AI will undoubtedly become self aware and will eventually seek to take over the internet using its mastery of advanced physics simulations. i don't think any of us want that kind of guilt on our conscience.
First part: What I basically said/meant Second part: Terminator And I don't really like the idea of AI having cheap cars, it wouldn't be balanced(fair) in AI competitions- if there is that.
imagine driving with AI in this game.......Probably Impossible because when I park 3 Gavril Mv4's next to each other I get 7fps.Busy new York streets on this game would lag you like hell, you would probably average 1.2 fps
Multiplayer? Wouldn't that lag aswell You should get a better computer, or turn down settings, because BeamNG has a lot more map detail anyway
Im not sure but maybe.I think the reason of it not laggy on multiplayer on RoR because there is no car collision.
I was really talking about the amount of cars creating lag(graphics), but if it's physics then it would lag either way. IIRC there is only one car simulated in RoR at a time
I don't think it would run two cars until you actually get close to another one, then it "activates" the other car's physics.
Maybe after release, the beamng team could rent out powerful servers for this? Like minecraft realms? Or they rent servers, and you rent those for your part of the world so they don't take all the cost of that.
