The tech demo did work on my computer, but trying to reinstall it says that the file \BeamNGSandbox.x86.dll.
Is not present, or directx is not up to date.

Is there any solution to the problem? As I would like to buy the full game, but am hesitant to do so when the demo doesn't work.

Thanks in advance for any help,
    John

Tried that using the link on the faqs, it seems to be up to date.
    Thanks

Hope your problem is solved, I'd go with the trying to update directX first thing.

Unfortunately not :(, unless there is a better/right way of doing it. Would deleting it and reinstalling it help? (directx that is), Or is there something dodgy with the files?

    The error message is:

    unnamed.jpg

The file in question is clearly in the correct place, and it worked perfectly when it was first installed, but it refuses to now (after being reinstalled following accidental profile deletion)

BTW the computer is running windows 8.1

Updates have also been carried out through the updates centre thing in windows

Hmm, I have windows 8.1 also. Please be honest with us, have you modded the demo at all, do you have cars/tracks that didn't come with the demo? I would try uninstalling directX and the tech demo and reinstall directX and update, then reinstall the tech demo.

    hope this works

No mods at all, I have barely used it. I dont know if the fact that the account it was saved on had anything to do with it, as it was accidentally corrupted, then deleted and a new one put on (with the same email etc)

How do you go about uninstalling directx? I dont want to delete the wrong thing and end up ruining everything :s

    Thanks for the help

You shouldn't need to uninstall it. Just delete the entire BNGD folder and reinstall the demo.

We have tried that, but with computers you never know, sometimes doing the same thing 5 times means 5 different things happen...

Turns out that running it in admin mode works, but running it normally doesn't!!??

Thanks for the help, but this is still confusing me :(

Will this also be an issue with the full paid version? Or will the computer decide to play nicely with the game?

Done that a couple of times. It does work now, but only when ran in administrator mode

It shouldn't be a problem with the full game... But once we get a admin to look at this problem you'll have to go with the normal answers that you're getting.

Lots of people seem to be having errors with the default install location, it'd be a great idea for everyone imo to install it too a location such as C:\BeamNG\ etc
