it remember me the time i played at forza motosport on 360 hehe going to make a video while fully testing the track then going to share it here in my review soon!
i dont post much.. but had to say this is an awesome track.. the main track looks and drives like something from one of the big sims with the Bolide GTR group 4 ..(wheel n pedals)
Just wanted to say thank you for the effort that you and the team put into this awesome map. Previous version was very great and now you made it better!
Wow, It does have a scary resemblance the the Carfag, but its just a Pontiac. Warning: track side objects are only meant to be seen from afar, and... may cause dizziness if viewed from too close. The Colmesh is even more optimized; 100-200 polys for the visible mesh and around 20 for the collideable one; thats why it runs soo smooth.
Amazing map, my new favorite map and will most likely continue to be for a long time. I haven't been up to Road Atlanta in a few years, but aside from sign advertisements, everything is as I remember it being (at least from what I remember, we were in the support paddock and I was working on the car for most of the weekend, didn't get to tool around the infield much) Also, absolutely stunning when run at night. Hands down THE best night driving experience in BeamNG. What tracks do you have planned for the future?
I love these LIDAR maps you are doing, they are fantastic! I hope you continue making more, and I look forward to trying them! Keep up the great work!
So, maybe a bit of a stupid question but, did you use a mesh for the track and runoff areas themselves or is this map 100% heightmap?
Definetly not, it took a ton of post production work to clean up the height map that the LIDAR gernerated. Especially along the main straightaway, where there are walls on both sides Its too bumpy to use for driving on, as is. I had to make special meshes to flatten the lower and raise the higher parts and a mesh concrete barrior to cover the small cliffs it created. I also I used a mesh to smooth and refine the asphalt surface and added mesh curbs, walls and platforms, ect over it. I had to make special depressions in the terrain to fit the meshes over so they didn't overlap badly wiht the terrain. The only part that's not heightmap is the land past the walls at the club area. That's a mesh generated from LIDAR. I use an optimize modifier, then UV map orthoimagry onto it. WCUSA is a good example of it used to the fullest extent - you cant even tell where the map ends, until you hop the barriers and drive on the blocky mesh. Without the mesh outside part, it ends up looking odd where the map just ends. Heres what that map looks like with the without its heightmap terrain
I desperately need to upgrade my PC again before I can precede any more with these giant projects, it's just too much waiting for stuff to load and process; a million polys here... a billion LIDAR points there... Hopefully I can update by next month, but mainstream PC parts are hard to find right now. I have a i3 8100, and looking to upgrade to a 10th gen i5, which is twice as fast and about the same price.
Oh, bummer. I don't know if it's just me, but it's either this or Pikes Peak that makes cars spawn without without wheels, even on base game maps. I have no idea why. I only have 6 mods and I'm pretty sure it's one of these 2. Would be cool to at least fix that.
Hello! Big fan of this mod, it's one of my favorite maps to drive around in. I've noticed that the latest update to Beam.NG seems to have broken it, though. All the trees are missing their textures, the grass is black, and some patches of road have a "no normal" watermark applied. The picture attached has all three issues visible. I haven't noticed any other problems and the map is still driveable, but it isn't looking its best. Have tried restarting my computer, clearing the game cache, reinstalling the map, and starting Beam in safe mode and redownloading the map from there without success. Thanks!
Try my fixed version. Did it quickly, so i have not checked everything. Remember to clear your cache.
