For the disk usage thing, there's a service in Windows10 called 'superfetch' or something like that, which is apparently known for hogging the disk usage at startup. It does it because it tries to load a bunch of programs it thinks you'll use, to make them load quicker. But all it really manages to do is make you wait when you first start the PC up, as apposed to when you load the program

    Prefetch, yes.

As for updates, you can set an interval of "active hours" during which your PC won't automatically restart after automatic updates, but rather prompt for a manual restart or a safe time for automatic reboot.

I got windows 10 VERY early on and i had windows 7 before. I love windows 10 and i think it is a great OS. i can finally record gameplay without having to have shady programs and about $1000 worth of recording equipment and i can see if my friends are on xbox with ease.

Is that so? Hmmm... well then... I am gonna have to do some digging to figure out how to shut that off because for the first 10 minutes my computer is totally unusable. I basically just open the task manager and then just sit there on my phone until the Hard Drive usage drops off.

I never had problems with any Windows version, nonetheless Windows 10.
I wonder why so many complains..

    Expect Vista. Nobody likes Vista.

Don't get me wrong, I love Windows 10 despite my two quirks. Heck, I have been running it since they first released it as a beta OS. That little feedback app they provided was a stroke of genius. Heck, I provided tons of feedback into that thing.

    Infact...

You know how in Windows 7 you can snap a window to half the screen by dragging a window until your mouse hits the left or right side of the screen, and then letting go? Well, I liked that idea, but at the time I was using a TV as my monitor (still technically am now) and wanted to snap more than just two windows since I had so much screen. So, in that little feedback app, I suggested that we could snap windows to the corners of the screen as well so it would only take up a quarter of the screen rather than half the whole thing. After about a week it had a ton of upvotes, and about two weeks after that... low and behold... corner snapping.

Now I am not saying that I am the sole reason that is in there... I am sure I am not the only one that suggested it... but... the timing was close enough for me to feel like I might (might) have helped get the idea seen by the right person.

Windows gained its negative reputation with the Windows 4/9x based iterations.

It's been a pretty solid consumer OS since Windows 5/XP.

Even the much maligned Vista was good enough for most users.

I’ve been running 10 Pro since a few weeks after it came out. Two small things make it much better.

    1. I use Windows Update MiniTool to disable the auto-updates and control the updates manually.

    2. PXC-Coding’s “DoNotSpy 10” is a godsend in terms of feeling more secure on Windows 10.

My Windows 10 Home has served me well, except for one thing - the Updates.
I usually like to watch some Youtube videos while I’m eating and Windows often decides to do some updates then. It brings my 15-20Mb/s wifi speed down to it’s knees and, after downloading, it has about 50% CPU (i5-5200U) usage on my laptop. These two things combined makes my laptop unusable for watching videos while updates take place. My food is getting cold, videos are stuttering and I’m getting pissed off.

On my desktop the problem is not as big, because updates don’t pin down my 6600k as much and don’t make videos stutter. Also, my desktop is left on far more often and updates usually complete while I’m not using the system

*cough* Windows 8 *cough* (Vista is decent imo)

OT: I actually quite like Windows 10. Using the 1511, probably updating it later.
