Is there a reason why most BeamNG Mods are private?

Reason why I am asking this is because I see a lot of nice car mods for BeamNG but I saw that they're private. Is there any reasons behind this?

Because many creators don't want their mods used by other people for reasons, and/or they don't want them reuploaded. The community also plays a factor in less members releasing mods, mostly due to the impatience of many members.

Private mods are 99.9% of the time Russian quality mods made by somebody and they don't want to release it. Sometimes they will get stolen and re-uploaded on other sites.

Cool, but if you see a cool Private Mod (Example: a McLaren P1) Don't ask for it, it's called private for a reason :)

It's because they're stingy and not at all generous.

There's only one case of one I remember where it had nothing to do with selfishness, and it was Vinh's Cadillac DTS mod. People made a big fuss out of it, and it turned out that it was actually a really good rework of a Russian mod. Eventually he made it public again. Nowadays it's probably a bit broken by a few updates.

I'm sure they're not all just being selfish. There's a fair few people who make mods for themselves who aren't interested in fixing any bugs, or updating them as they get older. So it's easier for them just to keep the mod private, instead of releasing it and getting backlash from others

Yeah, lots of them will just rub them in peoples faces in the community screenshots. For example, the ETK suv. It's a project that has been worked on for roughly 3 years iirc. Pics were taken and posted in community screenshots but never got released. NinetyNine isn't as bad unlike the other modders as he actually releases his stuff (which I personally appreciate). I just don't like the people who post for the likes and fame but never get released.

Or sometimes they just keep them private just to brag to the forums, but i agree, keeping mods to upkeep with the game is difficult, especially if they update a JBEAM.

I've seen videos with that mod.

It crashes like a Russian vehicle, just warning you.

Or, its new and they still need to work on how it crashes. I've seen that case before.

Though lately I'm starting to get concerned that maybe NinetyNine is starting to fall down that path. For example I'm fearing that it has become the case with the 1990 Miramar. The thread for it is locked, just like Bernd's SUV, which I think it's safe for me to say that it's never going to be released, though I don't know why he wouldn't. Plus the Miramar has shown up in those YouTube videos made by channels that use private mods for clickbait, so that's not good. And to be honest, if my concerns turn out to be true, it's going to hurt really bad, because I like and respect NinetyNine. I still think the S-Series is worthy of being made into an official car.

Let me guess, YouTube thumbnails? Yeah, I effing hate those channels for a reason.

Because crashing videos in Beam attract the most little kids, and crashes + supercars = ultimate clickbait.

To be honest, 80% of mods on RoR were private, and nobody cared. Then again, that may have been because Gabester's Gavrils were mostly modern, so not many people were bothered by this.

Personally, I keep my things private because I haven't finished them or they don't work.
But it's not like anyone is bothered about missing out on a few skins and an engine or two, at least for a while until they're finished.

For other people's private mods; I'm sure everybody has their reasons, whether they're unwilling to share their mod because it isn't finished or they don't plan on finishing it, or even if they're waiting until desperate people start paying money for it.
It's their mod and they can do what ever they want with it, which is unfortunate in some cases as it may seem as they are rubbing it in peoples faces or attention seeking, but in reality if they created (or in some cases; were given exclusive access to, or paid money for) it they have the right to show it off.

All in all, it doesn't bother me in the slightest (unless money is involved) because I'm only ever truly happy with the official content.
I wouldn't touch NinteyNine's supposedly 'dev quality' mods with a barge pole.
