version 3 out addded realistic lights for all cars with projectors: sunburst, ETK 800 and ETK K (SBR4 already done) download in the first post not anymore thank you, glad to hear that
Just a question, how do you edit the lowbeam/highbeam/foglights/spotlights? If I want to do some edits to the vehicle files in the directory (not your mod)... a few months ago I wanted to change the round unrealistic headlight beam and maybe the colour, is it easy? (changing numbers in a numberpad file?) Thanks. (Edit): Reminder you haven't changed the foglights (Alt-n in-game) also rooflights and rallylights yet.
i make my own textures such as these and then i edit the parameters in headlights jbeam to my liking, that's it i'm perfectionist, i can spent a lot of time doing this... right now i am just focusing on realistic low-beam headlights on all cars, high-beams are done but are just placeholders until i'll spend more time on that fogs and aux. lights are the last thing on the priority list, however i experimented with the rally lights for sunburst little sneak peak of what is being tested now
Right ok thanks, don't get me wrong I'm not trying to rush you hah... just really like the mod and didn't want it to go away, I wanted to know if I'd be able to change the lights myself without any fuss (you know just changing a few things) but it looks like there's more to it that I thought. --- Post updated --- I hope they implement something similar to this mod, I hate the default lights they're useless at lighting to road!
How do you change the headlight jbeam and where in the directory? I wanted to change the angle of the lights and maybe the brightness. Thanks
I've just figured how to adjust the lights, I've tried to angle to lights a little more realistic and this is what I've done... it takes ages to get it good though and this isn't that good anyway.
High beam with extra spots should lit hundreds of meters so that it is possible to see road rather well, no game to this date has achieved that effect to my knowledge.
(rally aux lights on sunburst) this isn't all that bad, i need a better map with long straiths to test this
Isolux diagram on that page, sadly it is tiny and finding good isolux diagrams is bit hard, but gives idea: 500 meters is 1/4 of 2000x2000 map distance. http://www.rallylights.com/hella-ff1000-driving-or-pencil-lamp-each.html Problem in BeamNG is that adding more lights kills your CPU if shadows are on etc.
you tell me, torque3d has horrendous lighting .. i'll see what i can do though, my rally lights are still heavily underdeveloped
Roane County TN, USA, for long routes. The towns could prove a little bit of use if a little laggy unless you have a recent CPU and pretty good GPU. Nevada Interstate, has a good decent straight highway section or two. American Road - a large expansive map, lots of long routes there, about the size of a quarter or third of Roane County. Desert Highway, has some really long straight roads, it's almost 85~95% the size of Roane County. Those maps should help. American Road requires 5GB of RAM free minimum to load it, Roane County requires about 5.5~6GB RAM free minimum to load it. Your lighting project looks pretty awesome. Hope it goes somewhere and you stick to it, maybe it'll make it into the game. As it sits now with the game default lights, they're much less than realistic.
I have a quick question, I have been trying to use this mod to no avail. I put everything where it is supposed to go, and still no quality lights. Any recommendations?
