Sorry you are getting so much shit @tdev I think all of the changes you made are for the better and I am confident you will find solutions to the temporary problems the changes have caused. You and your team make a wonderful game and it saddens me deeply that so many people have such strong opinions on matters like these, when we should all get along and focus on how awesome the game is!

Not to mention that you would need the servers for the new forums and would still have to pay for the server uptime of the old forums.

I think that's too much. Starting the forums from scratch again would take a lot of time to do, and probably won't be worth it.

Honestly, I have no idea of how hard nor expensive it would be to do this but I said this because i think restarting on good basis is better that restarting on something that just f***** up...

Well, General Motors wasn't/isn't doing to well, maybe they should've just turned the headquarters into a museum and restarted?

Well, to be honest I'm not anywhere near american and I know nothing about the story of GM but when I said having new forums, it didn't mean changing the platform...

But do you realize how much money and time it would take to create a new forum? You would need to pay for new servers to run the new forum, and pay for the old servers as well! If they did that, BeamNG could lose money, and that you need to create completley new accounts as well, would probably shrink the community. It would not be worth it in the end.

Not only that, but if the forums were Nuked and started fresh... what would stop the trollers and what not from just coming right back in? They will just seek out the new forums all over again.

You wouldn't need a new server. Web servers are capable of running multiple websites and web platforms in parallel.

That said, I don't think wiping the forums in order to start over is a good idea. This forum is nowhere near the point of no return. Let's all make a little effort to turn the forums into a better place, shall we?

I'm all for change, as I want to see things get better around here. So far I just feel like I don't see eye to eye with these changes. Then again they've just recently been implemented, so I'm going to give it some time to see how I truly feel about it.

I am at least happy that ratings will be back. I know they were abused by some, but they're also a very handy thing. I loved being able to like and agree to peoples posts.

@JPHL What above people have disussed
plus the fact that not all people want to affiliate their steam account with the forum. That could drive away new members.

I thought of this exact thing as well. Seems like a good solution. This would discourage rating spamming, while leaving the full ability to rate posts and see the ratings

The rating system being gone doesn't bother me to much, I am just glad that the leaderboards will be gone... I personally liked the rating system just so I could see if my posts were useful to the community. If my posts got no ratings, I would assume that I needed more information, or needed to give my posts more thought so they could be more useful to others. If I got a lot of ratings, then I would assume I accomplished what I was trying to convey correctly... honestly, that's probably the way they were supposed to be used anyways, but I know that most people didn't use them in that manner.

That's kinda how I felt about them too. I had noticed a difference in how my posts were rated, some got a couple of likes, while others got probably a dozen of agrees, mostly in stuff like drama scenarios. One of my posts in the funny village/town/street names thread I think got the most ratings of any of my posts on this site, I think 30+ funny ratings.

I'd especially appreciate the like and awesome ratings when I'd unveil stuff I made, whether it be some drawings or mods I made for the game. It really did give me an idea who appreciated my content, and that made me feel good.

Yes but more importantly, it would dissuade trolls to come back beacause they'd have to create a new steam accountbuy bng again+signing in with steam takes 1 minute max if you're a grandpa...

    @tdev

why not just make "like" and "dislike" button

honestly, we don't need no agree, funny, awesome.. but simple rating positive and negative would be nice and effective (with counter on each post)

like can stand for funny, agree, awesome, great and whatever positive adjectives you can think of
dislike is the same thing just in reverse

all these would then add up to a simple counter visible on individuals profile

guys make it simple, this is not facebook
    just my 2cents

    how it could look

Here is a screenie of the website I referenced earlier. I am not in any way affiliated, or related to the company that owns this website. But it just includes a basic +1/-1 format. It would have to rely largely on context, but it would work better for idea and suggestion threads.
