This is how it is done over on another forum that I am part of for the game GRIP. Except, hilariously, it ended up becoming more of just an unwritten rule than an actual button. People there will literally comment just +1 or -1... there is no button... it's just some kind of weird, forum wide, understanding.

Like would be good, dislike wouldn't.
This forum is already pretty cancerous, no need for dislike spam.

Agreed, dislike would be abused by members who get angry over having one post rated with a dislike.

Plus, the dislike will lose its meaning if it is going to be spammed on every post (and it will).

On the site I screenied, there is rate limiting, ie; only so many +1s/-1s, per day, maybe different sections of the forums would have different amounts? Not entirely sure that's possible tho...

So we are basically agreeing that just a Like, or +1 button should be there and nothing else? That seems reasonable to me.

Well do you think that based on previous events at other forums or are you just fearing the worst?

Yeah, that appears to be the general consensus of this thread thus far. But I'm Tdev still has the final say, and he may have other ideas.

I actually like that idea, just a simple like and dislike. I guess having the "awesome", "useful" and "informative" ratings kind of complicates things.

I am going to give my view on this.
The like, funny, useful tabs thing system was way to err.. mainstream? I mean there was absolutely no need for it at all.
I didn't see the point of it if something was say "useful" it did not need a useful emoji/thing.
The topic of the rating system, ie the "stars" for a mod was spammed spammed spammed, I often saw other peoples mods(which were half the time very well made) being given 1 star because they forgot something or "there are too many of these X mods, I'm going to give it one star". which leads me to trolling, sometimes I have seen people give 1 star for a mod, not because the mod was bad, oh no no, they give 1 star because the modder is let's say "different" than others, likes to post a bit more often. maybe this person likes to show their creative site, but then be dragged down to the ground by complete and utter a**holes who would not even communicate with people outside their own little toxic trolling community, then the person who puts up their first mod feels bad and then they either
A: post less because they feel useless
B: leave because they know that the forum is completely toxic.

An idea I saw on another website, was a Legacy members area, an area dedicated only for members who have owned the game for more than 3+years and/or who have had supported(IE been on the forum or website) for more than 1 year, within reasonable circumstance I believe this would work well with this forum.
so if the legacy area was implemented I imagine it looking something like this.

I think it would reduce trolling/spamming, but yes this would take a long time to implement.

As someone already said the "dislike"button could last like three or four minutes lol I agree with those who thinks that the right way is just the "like" button btw

As much as I think swearing is useless and disgusting, automatic filters tend to be either easy to get around or too strict, plus certain members would throw a tantrum at such an addition.

Its a very interesting idea for that, all the people who are not able to see when they click on it are "Please this is a section for Forum members who have been here for more than 3 years"

It seems like the filter is very broken, and can be easily bypassed.
