The reason for the overly springy behavior of the vehicles, because the cars in that slow motion video appear to be a lot less springy. I don't see the roof rebounding quite as well as they do in BeamNG during a rollover :p. I think, is a distinction between a corrugated structure like a car body in real life and how a beam in BeamNG behaves, it's a nice simulation of a spring.

Think for a moment, get some cardboard and compare it to a sheet of paper in the way it behaves under load. The cardboard is very rigid until it's overloaded, and becomes floppy along a crease that forms where it fails. Car bodies also do this when they crumple as a crease flattens out all the corrugations. There's no way to simulate this in BeamNG, the beams expand and shrink like a spring but they don't "snap". You end up simulating things as a simple sheet of metal which you tune to try and approximate the real thing. There's probably nothing that can be done about the strange way the car can behave under load, but this is what happens when you do real-time simulation. You sacrifice a little accuracy for a massive gain in FPS.

If you want true fidelity with your physics, download one of these

Run a Finite Element simulation and come back when you realize its taken you 12 hours to render the thing. Yes, the wobbliness is there but it honestly isn't THAT pronounced. Its springier than real life, but I personally think its a nice exaggeration.

Proof that Russian cars aren't made like wet paper bags

Hi Guys, on a Lada thread some weeks back someone suggested a VAZ 2101 be made weak as shit for the game.

Well check out this crash test. Its pretty damn hard

This was at about 45mph. To be fair American vehicles arent always known for strength, and it has been proven some American off roader's dont have great chassis'

lol, but this russian crap didn't absorb energy of crash, so everyone inside of vehicle will die.

Strong as hell, but I'd take an Aussie car over that any day.

I am not saying this is not a sturdy car, I quite like old Russian cars myself.
But this is a test of a communist car, done by communists, demonstrating how much better their cars are than the western pig-dogs. We can't be sure it is completely fair and the same as all the other Ladas on the road.

Isn't the Lada just a European car with twice as thick sheetmetal and half the compression? Sure, it's good in a crash because it is ironclad, but it was running at top speed in the crash. :p

That's because they're made of thick and heavy steel. If you were in that car, you'd probably have died from the G-forces. That's why cars have crumple zones..

Guys. I am we'll aware of crumple zones. Well aware. I fact o was talking about crumple zones when I was like 7! This thread is to prove wrong people saying commie cars are like wet paper bags.

Yeah.. not like wet paper.. And in that video on 1st post it looks like it´s not going 50km/h... more like 35-40km/h.
Those 100% front crash tests are crap. 50% offset is more real.
Here´s a proof that they are very unsafe.

I dunno, the reputation the russians have here is for building sturdy hardware, perhaps not as feature packed (*cough*lackofcrumplezone*cough*) or elegant but built tough.
