Hi all, I'm new here so I figured I'd introduce myself. I don't normally hang out on forums, not really my scene... I feel like I have a lot I can contribute here however, so I signed up. Also, I have a s*** ton of questions about content creation.... I'm 100% petrolhead. I grew up in my grandfathers shop and I started working on cars with him when I was three. Funny story, the first job I ever did was an oil change on a 1976 Lincoln Continental. Grandpa had me hoisted on his shoulder and let spin out the drain-plug. I didn't expect the oil to come out so fast and when it did, I dropped the drain-plug into the sump... I cried.. It was a rather traumatic experience in all honesty.. The mechanics in the shop always told me they'd throw me in the sump if I ever dropped a bolt in there and I thought for sure grandpa was about to throw me in head first.. He just laughed at me and got the magnet.... Anyhoo, to say I love cars would be a gross understatement. I built my first engine when I was seven, I built my first car when I was nine, it was a Datsun 510. I started doing alignments when I was twelve and that's when I found my calling. Near 30 years later and I'm now a brake and chassis specialist. I work my own shop building ice racers and autocrossers. I have a lot of experience setting up almost every kind of suspension there is and that's why I'm here... I want to start creating content for BeamNG, mostly custom set-ups and race scenarios but I'd also like to get into making UI apps and vehicles... I've already created a few autocrosses and set up a little Miramar to run them, I'm currently struggling trying to get it to work and upload.. I'm glad I found BeamNG and I look forward to being a part of the community.
That's an awesome story you have! I think I speak for plenty of car enthusiasts when I say you've been living the dream so far. Welcome to the community, it's rare to see a new member with as much experience as you

Welcome! I hope you enjoy your stay here! I'm afraid I won't be too helpful with any content creation questions, but I'll try where I can. I look forward to seeing you around the forums!

Um, not trying to sound rude, but how does a child under 10 years old know how to build an engine, let alone a car? I'm in my early 20s and I couldn't tell you how to build either one. The closest I've come to working on a car is Car Mechanic Simulator 2015. Anyway, welcome to the forum.
Welcome. Remember if you see a troll report them. Off topic. Some people are just smarter then others at a young age. Most people call them nerds in high school but they usually show their smarts before then.
Knowledge can be gained at any age level. If you're exposed to it early on, you get good at it early on. For instance... I have had the "bug" since I was very very young... but I had no support from any of my family or friends... almost no one I knew until I was about 20 years old (and still I have only ever met 4) were into cars at all. So, since I couldn't learn anything from anyone I knew, I spent my time down at the library reading car repair manuals. That's literally all I did for about 5 years before I even bought my first 4 wheeler (and that was 5 years before I got my first car and 6 before I got my License). Heck, from all that knowledge I gained, by the time I got my first 4 wheeler, I literally tore it apart, cleaned and tuned everything, did an engine swap, and put it back together without the help of a manual. By that point everything just sort of made sense, so there was no need for one. Anyways, point being, I totally believe he could have done that especially if he had supporting parents or even friends with the knowledge to impart onto him.
I grew up in my grandfathers shop. I knew how to set points and time the valvetrain before I could tie my shoes. My grandfather was a mechanic, my uncle, my dad.. it's in the blood.
Damn, that video made me feel so bad. What those kids had was raw luck at just the precise time. Interesting. That makes sense. I have to say, that is impressive that you were able to perform those tasks at such a young age.
Lots of welcomes.. this community is very nice.. Anyway, glad to see your here! All I can say is have fun and enjoy yourself, and if you want a challenge, start making mods, or just simply download new mods that people realese, or play BeamNG.
