    From original thread moved from vehicles sections to land!

    Gumbal LP500 S

    CHAPTER 2
    A fresh new flesh!

    Here are the fresh news of the day on the progression since last week

    A new chapter is beginning, and I quickly expose my ( @psy_lo ) notes & conclusions about the first chapter of the GumbalLP500S, beginning a new story.

    1 - The original mod is almost two years old and must undergo a complete overhaul to be carried to the current game update.(otherwise it will remain a poor mod, what some people like to name "Russian mods", but more exactly a poor "Russian mod" without any interest regarding the last BNG updates and according to my opinion! I would like to add that there is also good "Russian mods" working fine on BNG!)

    2 - There is a big authoring issue, knowing that the 3D model used in the original mod comes from another game, probably GTA, by the fact not suitable for BNG due to copyright issues concerning the permission from original authors of the 3D model.

    3 - The original 3D model is not suitable also for the following reasons: designed with another 3D modeler like 3DSMAX with different technics for smoothing used, to many polys, basic subdivision and triangulation of the mesh matching requirements for an other game, png textures not adapted to the 3D engine T3D,...). Simply designed for another game!

    4 - My negative point of view about just taking a model from another game to display it in BNG, and without taking into consideration the soft-body and other features, without taking into account the recommendations found in the BeamNG.drive wiki, and without any kind of permission from original authors!

    5 - If I want to play with models from GTA and have lot of fun and good time, I buy this epic game from Rockstar Games and play with it on my PS4! For now I prefer to buy DRIVECLUB VR™, really awesome with VR glasses, if you have the opportunity, must absolutely be tested!

    6 - Some of discussions with, what I would name, the GOW (Guys Overseeing Wireframes), after visited this thread and told me all of their hopes! ;)

    7 - I do not support in any way the "junk-work" of peoples ripping 3D models from other game, without any form of respect, without any difficulty to transgress community rules! By the way, the persons concerned will recognize o_O

    8 - The total loss of interest @psy_lo :cool: to update the original mod regarding these different points above.

    Now, these eight different points listed and cleared up, I am ready go to write quietly the next of the Gumbal LP500S's story (a temporary name that will be surely changed later) aka Lamborghini Countach, one of my favorite cars since I was a kid!

    So...

    To leave no chance and to give a definitive term to any question about authoring discussion, I decided to challenge me to completely redo a new customized 3D model, jbeam files and the mod structure from a healthy base, near zero!

    I started the job by making fresh blueprint getting as reference some pictures from reality and some shots created with UV projections (top, left, front ortho view) of a HD 3D model.

    Then, I can begin with Blender my new modeling job of this car, quad oriented wireframe rather basic triangulation giving ugly unwanted glitches when crashing in game, fully adapted to BNG's beautiful rendering and BNG dev's soft body expectations.

    I can include a few of the graceful help from my daughter (15 years old), who's taking drawing lessons since a year. She has agreed to start learning how using Blender 3D and can model under my lead some easy parts for this car (rearglass, rearlights) She's absolutely total busy with school, friends, other activities and has no kind of interest for cars in general, but like a lot BNG and some stuff (Stig, Dummies, want also to see a beautiful destroyable castle in BNG)... after tough negotiations, she's motivated to learn a few about 3D modeling if she can do a skin for this new car... so the deal is closed like this!

    According to my estimate, and considering my skill's level on Blender, the time needed to model my own customized 3D model for this car is about ~30 hours minimum of intensive work, include most unwrapping and required texture baking. We have done smoothly at this time ~8 hours of modeling, and me alone 2-3 hours.

    The frame, body, the hood, fenders, tailgate, doors, rims, tires, and some missing parts (brakedisks, brake calippers, coilover, are now ready :) All parts running separately as slots working with customized jbeam, of course :p

    Thinking also about making a new V12 engine, or adapting an existing one from outdated V12 mod @ItaliAsian (I will ask him) fits perfectly at first glance!!! Of course, all my work is available on demand for a insightful authenticity checks from GOW's guys... XD :cool:

    As I wrote before, this mod is not a priority for me, because I want, first of all, finish other mods update jobs that are important for others with whom I work on, for the waiting of thePlayer's (I am), as much as important for me (I know my recurring problem with deadlines! I'm sorry for that!).

    The progression of the Gumbal LP500S is done little by little, but it's progressing to be the best as possible, first results are gladly hopeful! Good things taking time!


    Improved job on suspension system using nodeCoupling feature, with ventilated brakedisks, brake calipers, and different shocks absorber & coilovers, jbeamed as props, selectable as slot in config menu. I would be happy to ask @pollypeptide for precious tips to get optimum settings of new suspensions!

    Remodeled wheels with minimum vertices and new tires with new created normal map as gooDrive brand (BNG tires with improvement experiences @psy_lo for speed and endurance above 350km/h) and special Black Racer model (inspired from the name of a snake, probably with racing capabilities!).

    Current body-line, closed to the original design by Lamborghini but artistically customized by @psy_lo to closest to the Bolide Civetta's character, and dreaming of maybe becoming one day a replica of the brand of the bull branded by Civetta!

    my mod for some reason conflicts with the Bolide and there is no dash textures anymore. Did you have this problem?

    I took the first name that came to my mind. For me a Countach is gladly associated with The CannonBall Run from 81' with Burt Reynolds, and CannonBall Run 2, CannonBall Run 3, delirious movies looking like BNG... I see this epic movie when I've 10 years old with awesome cars and a beautiful Countach LP400S I never forget, a must see!. Of course, the name can always be discussed and changed with better proposition.

    I like a lot the name suggestion @MisterKenneth, it's a right good idea something along the lines of Bovino or Toro. That could very well do it! Mheuu mheuuu.

    I don't have any jbeam line or file name referring to "super". For textures, the mapping must be redo on new images referring to a new mapTo in material.cs. The better way is to carefully rename all the "super" in jbeams, material.cs, others files (pictures) and in dae file (using Notepad++ -> find and replace in files, work also with dae!) with a new name you give to the mod. It's the better way to avoid conflict with current Bolide slots and mapTo!
