Hi Guys, i was thinking about BeamNG Drive´s potential to recreate classic games like Codemasters Insane, Street Rod I & II from California Dreams or the first The Need for Speed from EA. Man, loved those games...... BeamNG has made great progress so far and i´m loving all the maps and scenarios created by others. Unfortunately i don´t know nothing about modding, content creation and stuff like that. How much content creating stuff and options are missing to recreate a small game like Street Rod 2?
If one would be really good at Lua programming, I guess not too much, but without Lua programming even swapping more than 1 part of engine starts to become a problem as it is not adding up. Buying / selling cars and parts, there is price of parts currently, but no means to really utilize that, so it would need to be programmed. AI does not want to race either, unless that is rewired a bit, so again more programming is needed. Much would be possible I guess, but it would take quite bit of time and skills in programming. Another something interesting would be Stunts aka 4D-sports driving. With procedural track system, maybe one could have procedural map editor like in Stunts you could place those modular blocks and then drive on newly crafted track.
That doesn´t sound to bad, thank you. Let´s wait and see what BeamNG has to offer, when it´s finished. Maybe some kind of money and trading will be added, at least i hope so. I was thinking about the car market, it would be nice, if the cars are generated randomly, based on the value of new and used cars and their parts. Your idea with Stunts aka 4D Sports Driving is also very nice, i like that a lot.
