I really don't want to come across as an ass or anything at all but god lord it pisses me off when I see people ask for different versions of a 20-30% project. Please let the developer focus on his goal and after its released maybe then it could get some modifications by you or the creator himself. Again please I don't want to be a twat just drives me nuts.

Oh I don't mind. I'm sure whatever idea they have that I haven't thought about myself already.

Here's some of the latest progress shots. I've finished the frame, seat, pedals, gearshift, front suspension and steering components. The suspension took a bit more time to finish than I thought it was going to take. Amazing in that I found a decent blue print of a 57 Chevy frame that I used to make the frame. After fitting to the body I found out just how "off" the body was so I had to do a lot of tweaking and resizing to get it right......In other words, DON'T BELIEVE EVERY 57 CHEVY BODY BLUE PRINT YOU MAY FIND! There, I feel better for sharing that.

    Another update

Created some wheels with standard stock rims. Finished and tweaked the front suspension, created, tweaked, and finished the rear suspension with standard stock shocks and leaf springs. Went back and further tweaked the frame, created a gas tank, tweaked the seat, steering column and wheel.

In other words, a whole of of tweakin'

Next up is the engine and transmission with racing headers. I want to get that finished before I start on the dog house to make sure I don't have to go back and re-do the wheel wells and radiator support to make room. It's easier to build around what you already know rather than having to guess and spend a lot of time correcting everything afterward.

    Thanks guys ;)

Just another progress update to show. I've finished creating the engine, transmission, drive shaft, and exhaust. I had to go back yet again to tweak like crazy cause it was tough making sure everything fit right and that the engine and transmission didn't interfere with the steering and suspension.

Next up is the hood, fender, and inside fender wells. After that, the radiator, master cylinder, hood, and lower radiator splash pan. Haven't figured out how I want to make the race bumpers and any grill guards yet.

Beautiful car man 57 chevy is one of my dream cars but i don't want a beautiful perfect one that i never want to drive due to possibly flawing it, i want one similar to what you described in the beginning just a down and dirty beat up outside rust dents missing trim the works but underneath everything would be beautiful and would drive amazing with as much motor as i can fit under it, but anyway keep up the amazing work ill be looking forward to the progress!

    Another update and ironic problem.

This is about the third set of headers I've built for this 57 and I kept running into the same problem. There was some serious and pain in the rear clearance problems with the steering box and frame when trying to run some custom headers. I thought that I must have gotten the size and dimensions wrong with my engine or exhaust. I double checked my sizes and everything matches the "real world" sizes pretty accurately. While browsing for alternate header configurations I learned that among 57 builders this is a "real world problem" that I thought was kind or ironic and funny. I guess some builders grind the steering box down to create clearance so the exhaust doesn't get dimpled when the engine shifts or vibrates.

Anyway, I was able to create some "block huggers" type of racing exhaust that finally clears everything so I feel better about that. Oh yeah, I also finished up the fenders and inside wheel well skirts.

Wow! This would make a very neat stock car or vintage race car! This is a kit that i'm working on right now! Just gives you a general idea.

I certainly hope there will be a %100 stock version, I know if I went around trying to remove parts of someone else's mesh I'd just make a mess of things.

I've finally finished up the basic modeling. I may change a few things, like the bumpers. I've looked at many different vintage stock car photos and this type of bumper set up would be typical for the time.

The next stage will be to optimize the mesh by adding loops where needed, reducing polys where I can, checking poly flow and adding smoothing groups. Next would be to separate the parts to different layers then UV mapping.....Ohhhhh that's going to take a while.

After UV'ing the mesh, I'll create a high-poly version of it then take that into ZBrush for texturing and adding detail. It does a pretty good job at that once you subdivide the mesh to roughly 2 to 4 million polys. Right now the total mesh count is roughly 33,000 polys. Not great, but no too bad either.

As far as modding as was alluded to earlier, sorry, I wont allow others to create different versions of this for upload or to use this mesh as a base to create something similar. If you wish to do so for your own personal use that's fine, just not for distribution. Why? because this took a heck of a lot of work and research to create and I plan on creating variants of it myself . I will however let others create skins to share if you wish so long as it's "good". Taking an existing texture and overlaying flames on it is not a definition of a "good" texture.

I like the bumpers and such, relly looks more "derby" than "classic nascar" to me tho.

personaly I always looked at cars like fireball roberts #22 57 chevy as classic nascar style.

I was trying to design something more versatile, think"Flatout" racing. Something that could be used for demo derby, nascar, stock car, etc.

It's been a while since my last update, but I'm still working at it. Here you see I'm still in the texturing stage. Right now this is still just the base paint, after that comes details, rust, sponsor logos and car number. Fun, fun, fun :)

Looks absolutely great man. Can't believe I missed half the progress, but really nice work on the suspension/body/underbody and such. Epic. Can't wait to abuse this thing in BeamNG.

Thanks Mythbuster, I appreciate that. I think your Cadi would look awesome as a beater as well if you were to convert it. Maybe a hard top with a roll cage, a few nicely placed dents here and there.
