So I'm making a map. When I go to open my map I find the terrain all messed up (It wasn't messed up when I last worked on it). At first it seems the position of the terrain was moved, but I look at the position variables and they haven't changed (the map is an edited version of West Coast USA, so I looked at the original terrain variables). (First, I want to say I don't know the proper terms) The problem is that the "terrain mesh" has been lowered, and the "glass plane/ collision plane" stayed in the same place were they're supposed to be. I can not continue working on my map before fixing this, please help.

The "terrain mesh" should be level to the door. When driving, the car floats over the terrain (level to the grass).

EDIT: I replaced the terrain file with a different, non-broken one, and the same thing happened. So the problem is not with the .ter file.

Could you try to re-assign the groundmodel 'layer' and see if when it reapplies the grass, that still happens?

Nothing happened, I don't think the problem is with the groundcover. I think it is with the 'groundmodel' (the visible ground). The 'groundmodel' is the 'terrainblock' right?

    Uh nope.
These are groundmodels (Editor > F3/Terrain Paint):

    Defines stuff like 'Dirt/Grass/Rock'.
On Gridmap, the 'groundcover' object is setup to show grass on the 'Grass' groundmodel:

Anyhow, if you drive it a vehicle on that part, does it touch the ground correctly or still floats?
What I mentioned before was to select the groundcover object responsible for that yellow-ish grass, find the layer, choose another one (temporarily) and then switch back to the correct one. It would force the game to re-apply the grass, and possibly fix the issue.

I wonder if it's not the actual WCA in the game content directory conflicting with the edited version in /levels/.

They had an issue when 11.x first dropped that the stuff in other DIR's would over-ride the stuff in /levels/ where your editing is made from/to when you work on maps.

I think the only way to tell if THAT is happening is to move the WEST COAST USA ZIP out of the game directory (make sure to know where it goes back to - \Steam\SteamApps\common\BeamNG.drive\content\levels ).
Stick the zip file on your desktop for now using the cut>paste command or hold shift while you drag the ZIP file to your desktop.
If that fixes it, it's a conflict (and a bug that should be corrected).
If that is not, it's something else wrong (could be a bug, could be an OOPS, easy to do in that editor especially currently).

I have never seen this happen with THIS game-engine, and I've managed to do some STRANGE things. I've seen something kind of similar with other games though when it gets stuff mixed up in RAM though.

Looks to me like something is getting mixed up with your existing map VS the original WEST COAST.

Nadeox1 knows better than me, but I try to help; and have solved plenty of issues also, so it was worth a shot.

Gotta love that editor. I swear the developers own stock in ROGAINE (men's hair re-growth formula, to re-grow some hair after you've pulled it all out or gone bald using the editor for any length of time).

Got to hand it to the original poster, for managing to bungle up the game in a way I haven't managed to yet in thousands of hours, did you get an achievement for that (Applause from Bob Achievement) ?
    :)

It did not fix it, it just removed all the original buildings and assets from the map. Didn't know the 2 maps were still connected though.

@Nadeox1 Did you guys update West Coast USA a few days before I posted this, adding an object named "groundfill" to the scene? Because I know that that object wasn't there before, and I'm thinking since apparently my map is still connected to West Coast USA is some way, that you guys maybe changed something which messed my map up.

    Problem Solved

I just had to replace the terrain, deleted the old one and imported a "new hieghtmap" and added all the same stuff on to the new terrain.

Good on you that you fixed it & replied here what fixed it. Will keep this in mind next time I have any issues with mine, if there's an issue. I'd be lying though if I said I've seen that before (in this game, anyways).
Congrats on finding a way to mess up the editor in a way the THE BOB (me) hasn't found yet.
*ACHIEVEMENT AWARDED* Messed it up worse than Bob's finest! *fan-fare*
