And now they just said that the consumer version won’t be revealed until 2019... Just great. Although it probably won’t look much different than the race car, just take off all the aero bits and you’ll see roughly what it’ll be.
I thought one of the main reasons the Supra wasn't getting a manual due to Toyota having a falling out with transmission manufacturer Getrag regarding the previous Mk4's 6 speed manual, due to apparent reliability problems.Though again, alot of sources say it's because of the BMW engine, but again, this doesn't make any sense because there's a pic of one of the Z4 test mules with a very obvious manual gear shifter. However, this may have been an early mule and they probably scrapped it since then.
Doubtful its anything to do with Getrag when they have a solid relationship going with Aisin anyway who do produce traditional H shifters in the correct power range
Aisin only produces the W series 5 speed manuals that were both in the Mk3 and the Mk4. Getrag had produced the 6 speed V16x for only the twin turbo'd 2JZ engines, and that was it, the original transmissions, according to Supra owners/forum posts have had reliability issues and even getting replacement parts from Getrag themselves are a dead end because they claimed that they sold all remaining stock to Toyota/have any tooling left to produce said parts, however, considering the following posts, the parts at Toyota have run dry as well. Overall there's still speculation about drivetrain updates further down the line, but nothing's been confirmed yet for sure.
Several Lexus and Toyota vehicles use aisin's. GT86 for example, one in the 4 rubber too. Doesn't matter what was produced fit old supra, that was years ago, matters what's produced now
I know that, Yes. But, there's no word that Toyota would be going to Aisin for a manual transmission, even if they're still making them for other models. I'm just simply relaying what I've read and what people have told me.
Well I just had the most dangerous drive I think I have ever been a part of... This is really just a rant because I am seriously not happy about today, so I'll put it in a spoiler tab... Spoiler I have been in some interesting places the past few years... Literally less than 3 inches from a rocky cliff edge in a JK Jeep, in a different JK buried on a beach with the tide coming in fast, in a speeding Mexican city bus with some chickens (that one was a lot of fun actually), but those were all voluntary... We all were told that a big storm was coming today and it would make for a difficult commute, but my university's department of public safety sent out an email saying they have agreed that the storm will not pose a significant enough danger to cancel classes. At 1:50pm today they tweeted that classes after 2:30 are canceled and nearly an hour later sent the official email. I usually walk to the train station but there was 3 inches of slush so I stopped being cheap and took the subway. Got on the 3:05 train (usually I take the 6:04 today), by the time I got home the tree branches were so heavy they were knocking on the train. I am honesty surprised the trains are even running, but I guess it isn't too windy and everything that could fall on the rails did in Friday's storm. I am usually only a 3mn drive from the station. Took an hour today thanks to the detours from downed power lines/poles/etc..., one of which fell within seconds of me going under it... The drive home included dodging trees and sliding cars. I was in my families 2006 Ford Explorer, which usually handles the snow very well. Not today. Even the local Jeeps were struggling. Visibility was laughable. Really not happy that my school decided to have classes today...
My neighbor that I grew up near (Rural so I consider my neighbor to be the guy that lives 4 miles down the road) Had a few cool vintage Chryslers and some Ford pickups from the 60s and 70s. Once upon a time he had a Mud truck with a mid to late 60s Chrysler Imperial body on top of it. Was pretty cool! Can't recall what he did with it.

I'd like to ask something, what do you think makes the Pontiac Aztek ugly? And what would you do to improve it?
Well, there's a lot of possibilities to improve it. For example, a 152mm HE shell would do nicely. Or paint it green and have to mysteriously fix the windshield every month. I actually can't recall seeing one of these IRL until last month when one was parked at a restaurant I was at. It was worse than I thought...
The Supra is more of a semi affordable (cheaper than an Italian exotic) GT car. Personally I wouldn't mind that it is only auto as they are just so good these days, gone of the days of the old autos that sucked tonnes of power. Plus there are a lot of auto transmissions that allow you to control the gear ratios if you like.
The problem with the Aztek was actually its size. The original concept wasn't the best looker in the first place, but then the bean counters dictated that it be built on a scrunched-down version of GM's minivan platform. The result is the eye asparagus we see today. In terms of improvement, looking over pictures of modified specimens, the usual lowering and lower-profile tires really seem to help, as does changing the cladding to body-color.
That's what the older ones intended to be. The new one though, I don't know. It looks like they are trying to take it in a different direction. Maybe it will be a GT car like the old one, maybe it will be a stiffer sportier car. It's hard to tell with how edgy and aggressive they seem to be making it look. I guess these days you can make a car do almost everything.
That's pretty informative. Also, I do prefer the concept, as it's the most tolerable version of the car. Anyways, what do you think ruined the Mirai?
