The overall shape seems boxy to me, especially the rear. People see things different from one another, keep that in mind as well.
Then why where they so popular? Don't get me wrong, they certainly weren't the best car in the world, especially if you want comfort or performance, but they were very reliable, versatile, and fuel efficient. OT: From a pretty decent looking pickup... to the weird angular front end and the bug-eye tailights
I know, but i was just responding toward him saying "Oh this new facelift totally kills the old car" It was a terrible car for a very long time, until VW got the memo and finally made a usable one for the 21st century.
What is it with manufacturers trying to make cars look better by making the roof a different color? It doesn't work with new cars, stop trying.
I quite like that. It looks much more modern. I don’t like the pre facelift one that looks like the headlights are melting away.
I mean, the Yaris doesn't even deserve the styling that the C-HR has. Sure, they are both aggressive, but I don't know why Toyota wants to make two-tone vehicles (except the second tone is the roof). --- Post updated --- I could see why you think that, although I still find it round.

Mazda Miata: From the cute and cuddly NB to the meh NC. WTF. (at least they did it right again on the ND) Audi A8: From the nice looking D4 to the meh D5. --- Post updated --- I rather have it's even better looking Australian cousin.
I do like the D5, but it's just me. Also, the ND was more like the angrier cousin of the NB, but it looked better still. OT: The original V was so/so. Now it looks like an stupid angry McDonald's customer.
