Re: Developers: Challenge you! Can you post the pictures of the engine compartment? You don't have to. I'm just curious.
Re: Developers: Challenge you! I'd say a 1988-1993 Chevrolet C/K 10...you know, after GM remodeled the silverado and added fuel injection.
Re: Developers: Challenge you! Wow, that's pretty dang close! I honestly didn't think you would do this challenge in as short of a time as you did! Congrats on the victory
Re: Developers: Challenge you! hoods on cars have a pre-determined weak spot where they are meant the kink. I see no fold/kink in that hood gabester lol.
Re: Developers: Challenge you! Depends. (imported from here) The sharp bend has to do with how the mesh is mapped to the skeleton, not how the physics structure itself deforms. If I move the hood nodes so they match the mesh better, I can get a sharp kink. (imported from here) The Grand Marshal hood has a nice sharp kink when it bends. (imported from here)
Re: Developers: Challenge you! Yeah bud, I'll get the pictures posted soon. I'm in the process of some other things so I don't have much time to transfer files over to my computer. When I get done putting in the clutch on my race car I should be set for some extra time.
Re: Developers: Challenge you! The imprint on the bumper doesn't look very large, I think that a tree this thick would yield considerably to the weight of this truck. Even several centimeters would make a difference Do they? I have seen a slo-mo crashtest where the hood started bending at the front and the kink traveled inch by inch up and backwards as the hood was conforming an obstacle. This way it absorbs the most energy possible.
Re: Developers: Challenge you! I honestly can't wait to muck around with the Grand Marshal. Looks like a very good uhh... Fake Crown vic. I'm looking for a word, its the >something< of the Ford Crown Victoria. EDIT Got the word, its analogous to the ford crown vic. Its an analog of ... yeah.
Re: Developers: Challenge you! Off topic: Reminds me more of the Chevrolet Carprice from the 90's to be honest, On topic: The comparison in damage is great! The similarity's from the real world occurrence and the in game one make me more excited.
Re: Developers: Challenge you! Sorry for such a long delay bud, I was waiting for the Insurance Adjuster to come out to see it in the current condition before opening the hood for better shots. He gave us the go ahead and we forced the hood open (compare the hood when it was closed to opened ) and when he left I snagged new pictures. Here they are: The radiator support bar is bent/curled (imported from here) The hose is pushed back a ways almost hitting the belt (imported from here) The hood's crumple zone let the hood straighten out some (imported from here) The right frame arm where the bumper connects (imported from here) The trim, just for an extra image (imported from here) All in all, the insurance company is calling it a Total Loss. Unsure of how much we'll get out of this.
Re: Developers: Challenge you! That really sucks dude. That looks like it was a nice truck, too. I understand the delay, thanks for taking the time to post all of these pictures. I don't know why, I just think looking at how the engine bay deforms is interesting. I'm glad you're okay, though. It could have been much worse.
total loss? seriously? With such a small fraction of the vehicle damaged that tends to annoy me so much.
The vehicle repairs tallied up to be 70% of the vehicle's value, therefore; Total Loss. How ever, we can opt to keep the vehicle and repair it ourselves and get it back on the road. State of Florida allows vehicles to be driven until 99% of the total value is done.
If we get enough out of it we will buy it back from the Salvage yard. Since they called it totaled our priority is to get a bigger more powerful truck to help us haul our Race car. If we can afford to get a new truck + buy this back and repair it we will, but our priority is to get us to the track every weekend. If we manage to secure enough funds I'll transfer it into a Race truck, lol!
Yeah, I understand that. It just seems so wasteful when you remember the 2 tons of truck attached to whats been damaged. I had an old Suzuki declared total loss over a window being smashed and the radio stolen. Car in perfect working order, just needed a new window and radio. Their solution is scrap it and buy another. Obviously in that case I opted to keep it. Seems wrong to me. Hope you get the damn thing fixed, looks like a nice truck and it'd be a shame for it to be taken off the road.
It is wasteful, I agree. That's exactly why I'm pushing to buy it back and just repair it. It's a beautiful truck and it can do what it's supposed to. I love this truck and it's hard for me to part with it because it is also my first vehicle. *shrugs* I'll figure it out.
I had the same when people tipped my car over at night and damaged the entire side. I opted to not tell the insurrance at all because I knew they'd call it a total loss, needed a new door and fender and the rear quarter was completley ruined. I bought a second hand door and fender cheaply and fixed the rear quarter myself. Not the best sollution because it still shows a bit, but it works and I didn't want to part with the car. Perhaps you can score some crashpanels and bodypanels off a scrap car and fix it yourself too, if you know how to use a spanner, which I think you do? Good luck man, probably a truck worth saving imho
