After my Intel swap 2 weeks ago, my computer was running smoothly up to today. Today I was arranging files in a usb drive and moved one folder out of it and my computer crashes entirely right there. The screen blanks and then restarts on it's own after 5 minutes of nothing and attempts booting into one of my WD storage drives which has a bricked version of Windows 7 (BIOS' post screen is shown for almost a minute instead of a second). Note that my SSD is my main drive with Windows 10 installed along with updated drivers (although some aren't installed for the Intel swap because "below minimum requirements" errors). After forcing a restart and going into BIOS, I couldn't find my SSD drive listed for boot, nor was it even present. A couple of restarts made the SSD appear into BIOS again as least prioritized but I booted into it. Windows 10 runs well for like 3 minutes and then crashes again with BIOS not finding the SSD. It keeps doing this, I can't get the computer running smoothly for anything, not even logging in. Windows 10 also tells me that Windows didn't load properly on some of the attempts. Is the SSD failing or is something else wrong with the computer? The SSD is around 2 years old and is used almost daily since. also, the usb drive stopped working after this (opening it crashes Explorer). Oh, I remembered that Intel’s Rapid Storage driver was being updated at the time being. It might’ve been the cause of this. I uninstalled the driver, but still crashes.
The computer boots fine in Safe Mode and none of the virus scanners found anything (that if there was one, just in case).
It’s definitely a driver error, but I followed a bad tutorial which bricked Windows all together (Blue screens on boot). I decided to start rebuilding the system on a new drive and then transfer files and programs over, Windows needed the reinstall anyway.
Why would your extra drive have a bricked copy of Seven on it? My recommendation is to pull all the drives, put in a new SSD, new Windows install, move over important files and programs, then wipe or delete all partitions on your old drives and re install them as data drives.
