    Hello,

I just bought the alpha and i am trying to play it on an amd phenom 9950 with a geforce gt 9500 and 4 gb ram.

The game is really slow and some cars behave like slow motion.

I know this is a poor system but it was given to me so it costed 0€.

I just wanted to ask you if there is anything i can do to it or should i buy a new one?

I am not up to date with pc anymore and i have been trying to read about cpu and gpu performances but its a lot of info and im getting confused...

    Thank you

Edit: i have disabled all postfx effects and run it at 800X600 with all settings to min.

You are VERY graphics limited in this system. Your CPU is so-so, but it should work pretty well for one or two cars. Consider getting a new graphics card before doing a complete upgrade.

Unfortunately the answer is no, not at this time.

I'm suffering the same fate with an older machine
    that my kids use.

The game utilizes more CPU than GPU for the intense
physics calculations required for the level of realism
the developers are striving to achieve. So basically,
as in my case, reducing the graphical settings does
little for game performance in terms of low FPS, which is
    what you're describing.

My only hope is that they eventually shift more of the work
to discreet GPU's in the future taking the load off the CPU.

All the stock vehicles are pumped chock full of "beams"
and "rays" or whatever they're called so you won't have
much luck getting any playable frame rates from them.

Until then you could search for vehicles not made by the
developers, which may be far less complex, therefore allowing
    greater frame rates.

Try the "DSC Buggy" by DrowsySam.

There's tons of others in the vehicle showroom but the
buggy I know for sure will help you.

Thanks for the answers you gave, i really like the game but uprading the computer would be just to play this game as i dont play anything else on it, i only play on the ps4 and ps3.

Could you please provide some ideas on a low cost machine so i can consider the upgrade? How much do you think one has to spend to get a mid requirements pc to this game? Like one mboard cpu and gpu, as i allready have one case, power unit etc...

    Thank you

I personally cannot as I have not figured out exactly what "high end"
means in regards to this game.

I saw one user say a 6 core 3.3GHz processor needed to be upgraded.??

I'm new to the game and I'm still learning. I just saw your thread and
    I could relate.

    Definitely try that buggy!

Like I said, your GPU is really what's limiting you here right now. You should be getting ~40fps with that CPU. You can get a fairly good GPU for only $100-200, which is the price of two or three console games. A good budget card is the Radeon HD 7770, which can run BeamNG pretty well. Keep in mind you most likely won't be maxing out the cards performance, as your CPU is still a bit sub-par compared to what most players have.

Look for like an fx6100 and above bare bones kit on tiger direct. I worked with a user on here and he got a fx6100 and radeon 270x GPU configuration for a good price. He Boughy the fx6100 bare bones kit for like 200$ I think. And his processor out performs my 965 amd.

I guess I'll never understand what a good setup is for this game.

    Cardinal799 has a fx6100 and a 270x and gets like 35-50 fps.

I'm just saying, the other guy with the same CPU and a 280X gets 20FPS.

Good to me means playable (30+ FPS) at high settings.

Yes I did... and I stand by my statement. Everyone has a different definition of good. Some people aren't satisfied even with top hardware.. and others are happy if it looks smooth on medium quality.

That me to sounds odd the fx6100 is practically just as fast or a little bit faster then my 965 and I get 30-45fps

No one is happy with 20fps. Huge difference between "good" and "good enough".

I agree but that's what he said.

Currently the game is massively unbalanced. A $400 CPU from 2010 is beat by a $200 CPU from the next year. Amd is also at a disadvantage. I'll bet the next updates fixes most of that though.

Computer in my specs, first one, only $500 for the card and the computer. Total, around $700 with everything else.

i use an amd phenom 9850, 4gb ram and a geforce 9800 gtx+(512mb) myself and i get 25 fps on 1680x1050 borderless window, settings:
    -Mesh Quality: High
    -Texture Q.: Normal
    -Lightning Q.:Normal
    -Anisotropic Filtering: 16x
    -AA: off
    -Shader Q.: High
No singe post processing effect in use.
My cpu shows a usage of 40-50% while playing, while only the first core is realy used... at least as long i run the game on 100 % simulation speed.

Just discovered that when i use 6% simulation speed, first core drops from 90% use to 18% and the 4. core raises from around 20% to 70 % until i return to full simulation speed, like every time i change simulation speed that happens. whats going on there?^^
