So it's been 20 years since Need for Speed was released back in 1994 for 3DO and PlayStation, so I thought I might recreate my favourite map from that game over to BeamNG drive. so, I present to you, Vertigo Ridge. This was made entirely in the In-game editor and in Google Sketchup 8, that's where the tunnel models are from (My own Meshes) It's a wide coastal road with forests dotted everywhere with very fast banked corners. (it's easy to get cars sideways on them) it's about as accurately I could make this track in BeamNG without over-doing it. There are many hidden dirt trails and hill climbs waiting off the beaten path, if you're bored of the track that is. it is a fast Circuit track from NFS 1994 close to the original terrain made by EA Canada 20 Years ago. I would recommend this terrain to those who are the right age to have grown up with this game. In future I am hoping to be able to make the tracks Rusty Springs, Autumn Valley and Lost Vegas (Easter egg track in actual game). I will TRY to make some of the point-to-point tracks, but the terrains just aren't big enough (yet) This is only a Beta and updates will come in future. My Next Course will be Autumn Valley Speedway. if you have never seen this beautiful game, Google it: Road & Track Presents: The Need for Speed Anyway, Here is the download link to the Beta: http://www.mediafire.com/download/9zrasdvxka5c4zc/Vertigo_Ridge.rar To install... Start>Computer>C:>Program files(x36) (just Program files on 32 bit)>Beamng.drive>Levels>. Open the Zip folder with 7zip, or just extract and drag/drop into the levels folder.>Sit back and enjoy.
How about some of the tracks from NFS2? That would be awesome, I played it a lot more than the first nfs. Regardless, I look forward to release of this one
I spent hours on the original NFS during my youth, remember this track well! Look forward to having a go with it on BeamNG.
Maybe you could do a track from NFS: High Stakes in the future? There's one track I remember from there that I absolutely LOVED!!
Really glad to see someone bringing a track from another game by re-making it from scratch(ish) rather than attempting to port the original. Looks good so far, we really do need a few more "track" maps made in the editor. Don't get me wrong, I love exploring the sandbox maps, but with the obscene amount of detail LJFHutch puts into every centimeter of trail it feels like a lot of the community "sandbox" maps fall short.
that would be pretty cool. it would be cooler if you're allowed to release this track but not a car from the game because its not your mesh.
hello, ahlala... this game.. i played it a lot... a lot of souvenir. i believe he is my second race game. the first was ridge racer. (i don't count "hang on" on master système). i believe that my favorite track was "alpine" road , but, if we must choose a circuit, it will be autumn valley or rusty spring. not lost vegas in all case. thank you to put fast circuits tracks, it is something missing in beamng.
the first 2 nfs games i played were the underground series (so 1 and 2, i got underground 1 when i turned like, 6? idk, but i got it for gamecube) (2 i got for the ps2 when i was idk, lol) they were quite fun, although, i will say i find it funny that ea/nfs can get licences for real car's, but doesn't have real city's in it
That Moment when you are waiting for mediafire to upload the file so you can release it... It's been about 25 mins now... sooo... not long guys! BTW, lighting is now a whole lot darker, Trees are no longer yellow and the scenery is less boring. - - - Updated - - - well, it's up. enjoy guys! - - - Updated - - - well, it's up. enjoy guys!
I see what I've done now... I accidentaly uploaded it with the wrong name (Vertigo_Ridge_), not (Vertigo_Ridge). i'll quickly re-upload now.
My first NFS was NFS The Run, that was okay. 2nd NFS was NFS Hot Pursuit which I found boring as every mission was the same thing in a different car. 3rd was NFS Most Wanted (2012) which I utterly enjoyed & still play.
okay, new copy with fixed name is going up now. I just downloaded the same copy to test it and I got a grey screen. This one worked for me that I am putting the link to now. - - - Updated - - - I started with both NFS 1994 for PS1, NFS Underground for PS2 and NFS Most Wanted 2004 for GBA... so I had a lot of exposure to this game franchise, and I enjoyed it. - - - Updated - - - Alright, all fixed now. hopefully. It was just a case of incorrect names.
