because there is already both the games largest map in progress, as well as the bus, and due to gabster's injurie he is unable to model the cars, so thats probably why the bus is made by CarlosAir and is a bus specifically. i mean... its possible, but with a small team making a new car, a bus, and a new map would be quite intense!
The game is on a good way to get finish in my opinion. For future update, the focus should be on optimizing the game engine (grafik is good enough), get better AI for traffic options (without crashing itself), complete sounds and finish the remaining vehicle (Bus, Bluebuck and Wendover) and map (Italy). Maybe, maybe not mulitplayer. I also would like to get updates more often, but in the end we should be happy to get updates at all.
i completely disagree. this game is in no way close to the finish, have you seen that old list of cars on the original WIKI? if the trend continues with that as it did for the hopper, then most of those should be built and implemented into the game. optimization is a long way away from perfect, yet not too far. AI, i assume, is still WIP, as well as the entire career/story mode that basically just got started. not to mention the maps, of which i assume there will be around one or two more. all in all, do NOT expect a full release any time soon. (Disclosure: i am an idiot so take everything i have just said with a heap of salt!)
The career mode is still to come and a more realistic tyre model I would imagine. AI has much more work too. I would love to see a basic career mode where you have a persistent car that you have to look after and repair/upgrade.
i want the barn find life... https://jalopnik.com/tag/project-redwood also a way to link the maps together with like a highway map would be awesome! (loading screen when you change between maps is a video of a d-series driving through the exit into X map?)
Sry my fault, i completely forget about the career part! You are right this still also should be high on their to do list beside the other points i´ve mention above! Yeah a car (or cars) to look after would be great and was/is also on my mind! The main point of my post is the fact, that the should focus on make this game more playable! That means better optimisation to get more cars to generate more fun. This would help the Career mode and the AI (more traffic). This is just my opinion to the topic "updates that should follow first". Don`t worry i know that my opinion is not popular (everyone likes new content), but it is like it is for me.
You mean the concept list? It's called a concept list for a reason. I bet a lot of those never got past the initial sketch stage. The community wouldn't know the difference between those cars being released and the names being recycled for a completely new vehicle (with the exception of the Albatross which we got a sketch of and to a lesser extent the Fulmine which we got a description of). In Over the Horizon they stated that they want to cover every vehicle archetype and have a large parts library, but I get the feeling they want to wrap up the game and focus on tech instead, so we just have to wait and see to what extent those statements get fulfilled. As for career mode, I'm sure they have a decent chunk done but don't want to release it until it's nearly complete. --- Post updated --- Probably around 150 pages ago on this thread we were talking about how we will move between maps on career mode, some one pointed out that the many of the maps have ports and there is a ferry model in the game, so that's probably going to be how a lot of maps get connected.
In the German news article about an interview with the dev team that was posted a while ago, it was suggested that the game will be completed within the next two years... so i highly doubt that the things on that concept list will make it into the game.
I just hope that I will be able to get my DDSC derby race mod going again. I converted from the AI lua code that I used from crazikyles 'Figure_8' mod to the new AI race code but it would tell me that the waypoints don't exist. I told the devs and they said that there was a problem with the core code and to wait for a response. That was in January. Fingers crossed that they have worked it out. I would love the AI to run better in my chase pack too. --- Post updated --- Once the game is at '1.0' I would imagine that it would be just the beginning as then other game dev studios can perhaps start to integrate BeamNG physics into their action games. Big money contracts with the likes of Rockstar for GTA VII/VIII for instance (Everyone's been thinking it). The vibe I got from the beginning in ~2011 was that it would be an engine that other games would be able to use. That all may not still/at all be the case but, one would like to think so. --- Post updated --- Exponential amounts of new content! --- Post updated --- Did I just drop the ultimate speculation and shatter the thread?
I don't think any big studios would want the engine. For regular simulations, all of the studios that want one already have one. For the soft body physics, big studios already proved that their target audience doesn't care (even can't tell the difference sometimes...).
It's so sad that the audience that count are a speck in the volume of the general masses that make up today's mainstream gaming target market. People should be encouraged to learn to play games that are truly challenging and awesome. Not dumbed down trash like The Crew or NFS these days. --- Post updated --- Sorry I digress. (Killed it again)
A lot of people thought about the update being today, but since Updates usually arrive at about 9 to 10 o‘clock german time, i don‘t think, that there will be anything today anymore. But the devs have been unusually inactive the last few days. It’s only my opinion, no criticism.
Well it's April Easter Fools day, and there's nothing. In all honesty, I wasn't expecting anything. I think the staff are fully aware of how the community would react. It could be disastrous. Look what happened that one time around April Fools.
