I know that banks made an upgrade for those that the military tested... you should include that.

I just saw a red H1 in a parking lot. It couldn’t fit into the small-ish mall mall stalls so it climbed up onto a curb next to a tree. Almost hit it.

It should fit in most standard parking spaces with ease nowadays unless the guy didn't know how to handle a vehicle that big. Every single modern truck nowadays is actually bigger than the H1 in pretty much every dimension, so if parking spaces can fit those, they should be able to accommodate an H1 with ease.

The mall was busy that day so I guess the only stall available was the compact stall.

This will include all engines, right? So a 6.2 NA diesel, 6.5 TD, 5.7 gasser, and a 6.6 LBZ

Hey, this is my first post on this forum so please take this with a bucket of salt, here it goes. If you redesign the body Again(I'm sorry, I had to) you might want to add or remove a spot from the grille, to make it more unique, this is looking to be a awesome mod, now to correct you guys on some things. The H1 (or B1) did come with lockers, after 2000 due to requirements that the vehicle had to have abs/tc, meaning the had to redesign the diff to the rorsein II, it would use the TC to work, unlike torsein I, so they later gave optional diff lockers to make up for this, one last thing, this mod is coming very well, very top notch for a first.

You are correct, they did come with an option to have lockers after 2002. Originally back on page 29 I did say Hummers only used Torsen diffs which wasn't strictly true. Most used Torsen diffs while a select few that got the option equipped at the factory for the serious off roaders (or the people that just wanted to drive theirs in the city) had lockers installed. Also, while they did get an upgraded Torsen (for the ones that stuck with it) diff to work with the traction control system, they still functioned like normal Torsen diffs. If you apply even torque, you will still lock everything up, granted, the old style Torsen diffs were a high bias ratio (4.45:1) Torsen diff. This made it easy to lock them together by pushing the brakes and applying steady even throttle to keep torque even and allow the system to do its job. With ABS however, this system would blow itself to bits, as the ABS system would engage every time you would try this trick causing massive hammering forces to pulsate throughout the driveline. In response to this, they decided to go with a low bias ratio (about 1.6 to 1.7:1) which made the standard method of brake throttle modulation obsolete as it would not work with such a low bias Torsen (Well... I mean it would... but you would have to hold the pedal to the floor and that would put tremendous strain on the vehicle). Eventually the bias was changed back up to around 2.5 or 3.0:1 which allowed for a little brake modulation... but is still wasn't as effective as it used to be.

The traction control system was then developed to take place of the brake throttle modulation technique. Added in 1999, Torque Trac 4 was designed exclusively for the Hummer H1 and used a combination of the ABS system, and the Torsen differentials to apply traction to whichever wheel needed it most. When an ABS sensor detected that a tire was spinning at a different rate than the others, the TT4 system would apply brake pressure to that one wheel to effectively even out the torque load across the diff and allow the vehicle to continue without much of a problem. The catch here was that if the system was in operation for more than 60 seconds, it would disable itself to let the brakes cool off. Understandable, but that is where the lockers came in... they didn't really have that much of a restriction.

Essentially, the lockers were added because customers were dissatisfied with the limitations of the new TT4 system and the lack of ability to use brake modulation to truly lock up the diffs. So in 2003, they added the ability to have a locker for the rear axle, and then in 2004 they added the ability to have a locker in both the front and rear axle. This was added with a stipulation though. The lockers would automatically disengage if you traveled over 15mph, used them for more than 3 minutes (mostly just a precaution that you might have forgotten to turn them off), and could only be engaged if you were in 4LOW. This system, while only made available in (fully available that is) in 2004, could be retrofitted to any Hummer H1 back to the 1999 model directly at the dealer. If i remember right it was a 6,000 to 8,000 dollar option to have it installed in a truck that didn't have it installed previously.

Having said all of that, this Hummer... thing... is like a hodgepodge of all the Hummer years and options kinda rolled into one. So right now we have working Torsens... will probably add working lockers if everyone wants them... it will have all sorts of different snorkels, different engines, transmissions, several different body styles... you know... that sort of thing. It is a true Hummer H1 but just different enough that it is its own unique thing (mostly on the interior) but still enjoyable by all.

@atv_123 don't worry, I will enjoy this to bits, I can hardly sleep due to hype, so if you mind, how hard was it to simulate a torsein diff? And by your description it's going to be a beast offroad, I will use it to recover my hopper rock crawler(sadly very often due to it being meh, my D series is imo better) but I'm still impressed that all this work is all going into only y'alls first mod.

Honestly... the integration was super easy... it was just manipulation of the limited slip parameters that got it working. Everything that I did to make this work can be found here.

@atv_123 will the wheels be able to be used on other vehicles with 8 lug hubs?(or spindles if thats how you prefer it said) or just the Brutus/Bruckell B1? One more thing, how hard is it to use the torsein diffs with a keyboard?
