Many industrial vehicles and equipment that is an actual feature. Talking to a dude I know the other day, in conversation bought up the old land rover defenders which would allow you to remove the keys while the engine is running and he said about how he worked in contruction, they had a common key for all the generators and would turn them all on with 1 key and keep hold of the key, that way only supervisors could authorise the usage of that generator, some of their diggers also did the same. Wouldnt expect it to be on your car though, probably oversight more than anything, but then you do have an ignition barrel shaped with a grip on it whereas most cars are designed so you cant turn the ignition barrel by hand and must turn the key which in turn operates the barrel instead, maybe it is a feature?
Ya, that's not supposed to happen. Anti theft system should prevent you from doing that. As a mechanic i've seen and heard about quite a few GM cars from this era with that same problem. Probable just need a new tumbler, might not be worth fixing thou.
Yeah I am not looking to get it fixed. You can't turn it on without the keys. So I'm not worried about it. It's actually a perk when I am dropping someone off and they need to get something out of the trunk, I can keep the car on and hand them the keys to open it. (My car didn't come with an in car trunk release)
ignition barrel is broken. I did have one car that had this same broblem, not cool when those keys drop when you are driving. steering wheel lock going on in the middle of driving is SO much fun
(imported from here) (imported from here) I drive a big red rusty turd. Its a 04 Durango with the 5.7lt hemi. It has lived on gravel for its whole life and has over 250k miles.
Well the simple answer is stupidity but to be more specific I was driving quite fast in a corner (170 k/h) in the rain when the back end stepped out. The car spun around 180° and I found my self going sideways in to a field. When the tires hit the edge of the road they found grip and the car flipped once or twice. Surprisingly I'm just fine now but I did get a rib fracture, and it was a private road so no one else got hurt.
So I have just figured out that my key is the thing that is worn out. It won't let me remove my spare so I think I will just get a new key made!
Achievement Get: First Car My 1996 Toyota Corolla of DOOM (The DX version!). 1.8l 4-cylinder, 16-valve, 105HP. 0-60: Eventually.... Top Speed: Has one, probably... 2 previous owners, only wreaked twice, the most recent time I have to repair. And yes, that paint job is staying.
I drive a '99 Toyota Camry. I don't know the package, since the badge was removed, but it's got the 2.3L 4-cyl, which kinda sucks. I've gotten it up over 95 on the highway, though. Anyway, it's forest green and has a good tint on the windows. No pics right now, because unfortunately it's at the shop. She blew a fist-sized chunk out of the side of the engine block, so I'm getting a refurbished block dropped in. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
I was gonna say that I was glad that I don't park on the street, but now I'm just glad my parents can drive.
