Update Speculation thread

If this thing is gonna be beetle inspired and badged as a German car it better be a folksdriven so I can make a Jetta in the (really f**king far) future.

 

I think it's either an ETK Hemiptera, or a Fiat ripoff (Civetta 5000?). Considering Italy is nowhere near done (as far as I know), the latter is a bit more far-fetched.

That said, I can't see where the cylinder(s) are supposed to be... can anyone tell?

But the Hopper was released... HALF LIFE 3 CONFIRMED!!!11!!1!

 

It's almost identical to the top half of the volkswagen beetle engine, and here's what that looks like.

 

I really don’t know why they would make a german car for an Italian map. A 500 clone makes much more sense. When I think of Italy, I think of the 500. When I think of Germany, I think of the Beetle. I think a beetle would fit better to a German map.

 

There's already a German map. Plus, as shown before, the bay is nothing like a 500.

 

A beetle just doesn’t fit Italy.

 

Nothing ever said that this car has anything to do with the italy map.

 

...doesn't mean a Beetle can't be in Italy.
Plus, look at the 500 engine bay:

Looks nothing like the new car, so a Fiat 500 can be written off for now.

 

it is probably beetle based with the looks of the fiat

 

We don't even know what the exterior looks like anyways except for that glance of a taillight and the wheel axles.

 

I think these look pretty close.

 

The image points a lot of details that I can infer that it will be a Beetle-inspired vehicle. The Fiat 500 doesn't really match it, nor does the Karmann Ghia.

 

One of my original considerations was a Fiat 126p, but after looking at its engine bay, it couldn't be that one either.

The Karmann Ghia was extremely close though. A Beetle sounds very likely.

 

i think a beetle is lloooooooooooooooong over due for this game especially.

 

The problem was again the trunk size, and the taillight weighed more to the Beetle than the Ghia.

 

Facelift Moonhawk: Check
Newer gen Pessima: Check
Hopper: Check
Albatross: Had a drawing released
Charmand, Jargl, Civetta Fulmine all had descriptions released.

 

Probably not a Tatra, those had very different engines/engine bays. (V8, even)

Although Tatras were the original inspiration for the beetle, IIRC.

I don't know why people are trying so hard to find links to real cars. If it takes almost ten pages of discussion without a single, total match, chances are it's going to be a more original design, like the SBR4. Just wait and see. There will be a new teaser eventually, and we'll know for sure.

 

There was also the Porsche Type 12 and Standard (whatever model it was) that inspired the Beetle, specifically the Porsche. I believe it's likely gonna be alike to the Beetle.

 

We got neither a '69 Moonhawk nor a '94 Pessima.

 

yeah we did the moon hawk facelift and the newer gen pessima did exist for some time though not anymore
