I have to say american cars. They may be unreliable and cheaply built, but for some reason I like them. Not the new ones, I despise the new american cars. Actually I despise all new cars. They're to plasticy and they all look the same, and they crush up like a tin can in any impact above 5 mph. One style that I really don't like about new cars is that they all hide their bumpers. Cars have been like this for years, but in the 90s, you could actually tell that there is a bumper. Now on new cars it's all blended. I don't know I just don't like it.
It's kinda strange, but right now my favorite car is the 8th generation suburban. They're so sexy. They get like 12 mpg, and that's even sexier. If you bury they pedal, they'll suck down a whole gallon of fuel after 25 seconds. I am getting all excited talking about this so I need to stop.

Meh, not a fan of American cars - They can't keep up with the European cars when it comes to the petrol usage (with an exception of Ford, they are nice cars). Well, I don't like today's cars, these super-high-tech blah blah cars. I want a car from the 90's, to be honest. And I like Volvo alot.

I voted, but I can't really say for certain on what continent I would call my favorite. Personally, I usually don't mind if a car has something that makes me like it: a soul. Then again, anyone can argue a European car has soul compared to an American/Asian car - as well as the other way around.

But to be fair, to me, I just want something that has that factor rather than where it came from. But that's just my 2 cents.

My 2 cents on all the choices:

American: If it ain't broke, don't fix it. We're perfectly happy with 2-valve heads and push rods (I'm looking at you, Chevrolet).

European: No such thing as cheap here. Most Euro imports are way too expensive and cost way to much to maintain.

Asian: Cheap, plasticy, and beyond boring, yet surprisingly well engineered and reliable. Hell, I own a '96 Corolla...

My vote is for American because pickup trucks. (No Toyota, your Tundra may not play with the Ram's and F-150's)

Well asian cars arent always dat good. They compare japanese ( toyota , mitsubishi,...) cars with german cars ( bmw, audi ,..). But then uou have chinese and koreans cars , those cars are junk . But you also have bad european brands like the french ones ( peugeot and citroën). My opinion off the best cars are saab and volvo ( personal experience)

Exact opposite for us here with american cars costing way more than their euro counterparts and costing more to maintain. Probably to do with having to import the vehicles and parts rather than sourcing them locally.

Exceptions: Renault, Fiat and Peugeot who inexplicably cost a fortune to carry out basic maintenance.

Uhm, what? Since when does Mitsubishi compare themselves to a European brand?

The thing is, I can say the same thing for American vehicles (Trucks, even!) before 2005 came with the "cheap, plasticy and beyond boring." Heck, the interior of a Chevrolet C/K1500 is a giveaway.

    (imported from here)

I'm wondering if this is obvious brand elitism.

They have a reputation for being piles of crap. Not too reliable and fiat try to keep a monopoly on parts supply which they overcharge for. Peugeot and renault have similar part sourcing issues. All 3 are fine when they work, its just when something goes wrong it usually goes wrong big time and ends up costing alot to fix. There are better ways to spend your money. Come to think of it, I don't know anyone with a renault or peugeot that has not had issues at some point.

mm_gal_item_c2_5.img_resize.img_stage._0.jpg cts-v-exterior-running-960x400.jpg I voted American, but not because they're the best looking (stingray might be). Instead, I voted for them because of their brutality. I feel like BMW and other European car manufacturers make vehicles that are just too understated. To me they lack character. I guess I'd rather have something that screams powerful than something that has power, but lacks the aggression.

    Asian then American.

The European companies get an impressively little amount of power from similarly sized engines.

    BMW 320i = 2.0t i4 that gets 181HP ($32,000 base)

Kia Optima = 2.0t i4 that gets 274hp ($27,000 base with many more features)

Ford Fusion = 2.0t i4 that gets 240hp ($26,700 base price with same features as Optima)

With European cars, you're just paying for smugness and unreliability.
