Does that help with the overall quality of the model inside BeamNG? Or is it just a visual appearance?
Slightly improved. Anyone got a better idea for what this car should be? (name and model year. Its going to be a Gavril btw. Currently its the 1989 Grand Marshall)
1992 Gavril Midnight? I feel it should have a classy-themed name. I also think it's an early nineties car, not really ending of the eighties, but close enough.
Exactly. The two cars I based it on were 1992 so makes sense to me, I just couldn’t work out how to implement it. I like the idea of a classy name, to show off the still relatively new aerodynamics to the wealthier market
GM isnt aerodynamic. It is conservative in design. Taurus is aerodynamic. Intrepid is aerodynamic. CV isnt aerodynamic, but it is still more aerodynamic than Grand Marshal.
Crown Victoria. P.S.: since your car seems to be not fit for any realistic niche, maybe just call it "My version of Grand Marshal" or something like that?
Yeah, I’ve started to think the same thing. Just like “Alternate Grand Marshall” or something. But I think I’m going to come at with a different name, and call it an all new Gavril instead. I just don’t know what
That somehow fits, I know it should look inappropriate thing to do, but no, it somehow looks very appropriately fitting ///////////////////// I don't like to do hoses, they end up looking weird because when I move/bend them, I end up messing profile, but at least there is now something to redo. I would rather do hoses from scratch, but UV mapping / texturing is something I try to avoid as it is very time consuming. Why I did not think of 200BX engine earlier, it is almost same, but bit bigger: I could move radiator backwards or maybe add hood vent tunnel, change in weight distribution or aerodynamics and cooling. Kinda leaning towards moving the radiator as aerodynamics and Hopper do not fit in same sentence. It is surprisingly large effect what changing engine jbeam does to car handling, moving engine 10cm towards rear alone makes noticeable change. In BeamNG bigger is not necessarily better.
If youre going to be doing a facelift, the things youre going to be focusing on are the lights, bumpers, hood trunk and fenders (mostly if you change the shape of the housing). That said, what youve got may turn out better as a new model altogether, though that would mean changing the actual body of it too. Your call. Now, I like where youre going with it and youve got the right idea. I know its still early so its not final, but if I may make a few suggestions: - The LED light designs you have there are too square and dont match with the more organic shape of the lights. Be careful with anything thats too much of a perfect square/hard edge. - The main grille/front "mouth" looks a bit small and jagged there. Perhaps use Audi or Mitsubishi as a reference for that. - Depending on what you do with the headlights, you may want to change the design of the side vents and foglights. Some quick edits I made to try and show you what I mean. As always, you can do what you like and these are all just suggestions. I love the Sunburst but I really think it could benefit from a facelift/updated design (im looking at you front grille and foglights), so I want you to succeed.
Maybe another marque of Gavril, like how Ford has Mercury and Lincoln, so call it Jupiter or something (Burnside is more of the luxury marque and I'm already making a mod of a newer burnside)
