It's hard to compare drivetrain configurations. FWD definitely excels in terms of packaging, space efficiency, fuel economy (in most cases), and drivability, though I'd say a generalization of "RWD is better"or "FWD is better" is rather unjustifiable...it's all down to context :)

FWD can be better than RWD, and it can be the other way around - in a hoonmobile, RWD is a lot better, but there is no point in making a cheap hatchback RWD.

Also, "noisy diesels" is vague - a Hyundai Accent with a rotten muffler and a straight-pipe Cummins are both "noisy diesels", but with vastly different noise, and Alfa Romeos can be either reliable or unreliable - we're talking of a company with a long history.

You misspelled “Alfa’s can be either catastrophically unreliable or be a complete lemon” there has never been a reliable alfa

Alfas today are actually rather reliable as seen with the giulietta and giulia as they sometimes have less faults than some vw´s or bmw´s

They didn't improve. German cars became worse instead.

I like the Pontiac Aztek mostly because it can be AWD or FWD which both are good for Snow, it has a custom cooler in the center console, it have a lot of space, the tent, insurance should be cheap because it have pretty good crash rating, and it's GM so parts are easy to get.

I like minivans. I mean, they are comfortable, they have lots of interior space and they can double as work vans

OT: 80-series land cruisers are cooler than the FJ40.

I find modern Cadillac designs to grow on me after a few months, unlike other GM brands.

I know this thread is kind of old, but I think Top Gear American was better then the original Top Gear
