Hello all. I bought a Seagate 2.5'' Firecuda SSHD 1Tb laptop hard drive a few months ago. I dropped my laptop (on the carpet, so it's not damaged) a few times, and my SSHD recently start making a "buzz" every time I tilt my laptop. What is this? Is there anything I can do? I especially hope it's not harming anything. (If the computer is not significantly moving, the SSHD is normally quiet. Thanks! Btw, this is the exact SSHD I purchased on Amazon. (Price has gone up tho. I paid 50 some) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LWRTRZ...1X&pd_rd_r=7TCG68CE6BA0X5BSGNWG&pd_rd_w=XFNU7
Backup any important data on it just in case, then don't store anything on it you don't want to lose. That's about all you can do until (or if) it dies.
had that happen on my Razr and it was the fan. In your case it sounds like the drive. Backup immediately. I use AOMEI image backup tool. good luck!
I'm currently working on cloning my SSHD to another HDD. Then I will return my SSHD to Seagate and they (hopefully) will give me a new one. I just remembered that when I got my SSHD the packaging was already open. It never occured to me. My SSHD is still under warranty until 2022. I am using Macrium Reflect 7. I have 378Gb used in the SSHD, so it's obviously too big to put into my 320Gb HDD, I am going to copy an old desktop's 500Gb HDD (which only has 33Gb used) to the 320 Gb HDD. Then I will format the 500 Gb HDD and clone the 1Tb SSHD to that temporarily. When the new SSHD comes I will move the 500Gb HDD to that,. Then I will move the 320Gb one to the 500Gb. Fun times!
