    Hi,

I'm running this in Windows 10 Pro x64

The steps I took are as follows:
    1. F11>Shift+C (to fly around)>import my object>navigate to the object editor
    • For importing: Library>Navigate to folder containing the dae>double-click the dae file>import with default settings.
    2. Navigate to 'Object Editor (What is the hotkey to this?)
    3. detail>import shape into (new detail)>select my collision dae file.
    4. I then name the imported item to collision and the group to ColMesh>Save.
    5. Press F11>1 to return to vehicle. All is well.
    6. When pressing F11 again. I return to the object editor to import more objects or make adjustments.
    7. The previous settings above do not save. Even if I tell it to save my changes.
    8. To get the collision back I would have to do steps 3-5 again.
    9. Going back into F11 loses those changes.

Let me know if I'm missing any steps or if you guys need further information. I tried to browse the forums/Steam/Google before posting.

This is not needed, and also does not work very well because it's not used in the official pipeline.

If your object is simple enough, you can choose to use the 'visual model' for collisions directly from the 'Object Editor - F1', and choose 'visible mesh':
If you want to use a collision mesh instead, you need to set up your .dae for that first: https://wiki.beamng.com/Exporting_static_objects - Then you can choose 'collision mesh' from the same menu as above.

Collisions are updated only as soon you exit the editor.

    Thanks Nadeox1

Using the steps above for blender - I tried creating 2 'groups' as Sketchup doesn't actually do layers like blender.
One is called details. The other is called ColMesh.
To get a fairly complex shape I did still have to go into the object editor to make additional changes but everything did save properly. Here is my first attempt at the 'American Ramp' which I took the bus for a ride accordingly.
