I'm really wondering if a welding tool would be "neat" in this game. I do know theres a node tool were you can attach, and drag etc, but i feel that sometimes, if i use that i simply don't have good enough nodes to place my cargo, etc. Sometimes i've putten woodenplanks etc on roofs of cars, were theres simply not enough nodes to get the cargo in the middle of the roof. Not only wooden planks, but all stuff in general. Wouldn't it be possible, to make a "welding" tool which will fuse two things together. Just like Garrys mod, but the part shouldn't be 100% static. For example, You have two cars, any car. You weld plates on the front, or make a type of "reinforced bumper". Like, armor. I find it complicated using the F11 editor, i know it's handy, but since the new Node tool have been out for a while, i really think a welding tool would be appriciated, and handy!

Everything you see that moves in the game is done with Nodes and Beam.
You can already fuse two nodes as you found out. When you do that, the two nodes will act as magnets, attract each other and stay close.

But you want to fuse two things together regardless of their nodes position.
So how would you connect an object to another object, if the nodes are not 'physically fusing' together?
You may think the game could generated beams automatically. But automatically is not as easy as it sounds. A script is dumb, it doesn't know what's the best way to create a beam to a node and everything connected to it.

Weld. Good idea, but I would like to have something like in RoR. Load lock.
Say i want to transport a car on a platform. Load it on a platform and drive away. How do I lock the car in place so it doesnt slide away? Put the brakes on, and switch car while applying brakes. That works, but not entirely. It will still slide slightly and fall off.
Same thing with any kind of loose load. No way to secure it.
Can there be a way to do it, without destroying the platform?
I know there is a "lock nodes together" thingamajig, but that slowly but surely destroys the platform. RoR had this amazing feature of locking loads via nodes.

For loads it would be best to have a way to make a node to node rope. Like click node A click node B and it will add a rope with nodes between the distance.

Pretty sure this was already being worked on too from a dev post a couple of years ago, just can't find it at all..

Alright, after reading some of the replies, i have an idea. What about pre made ropes/chains etc? The feature to actually, secure a load by simply attach like a string, over a box and secure it from both the ends of the rope/chain. Like normal ropes nd chains. Farming sim 2017 has this feature which detects the load, and with a press of a button you will be able to secure trees. The ropes/chains are premade, attached to the trailer, Farming sim 2017 dosn't have that realism in it, but it works. I think, a simple rope or a chain which gives downforce would at least have been cool. Just like VeyronEB said, a node to node rope/chain that gives downforce. I understand a welding tool would be hard, as the nodes are already placed, and you can't simply do such a feature without performance hit perhaps. I really just wonder, Garrys mod made a welding tool, it's not realistic i know i know, but i do think they can make atleast a simplified node tool, such as you can rotate, etc be precise and not have any rotations in your cargo your holding with the node tool. I want, a node to node rope/chains etc. A welding tool would be superb, but hard since you simply can't attach anything to whatever you see. If the devs had an insight of garrys mod welding tool, maybe they could work something out. Who knows maybe they've already looked at garry's mod welding tool. *I didn't read all the replies firmly before answering the thread, so i might've copied others thoughs. Good we are same minded :)
