With the DT40L having 2 pictures of parts and 1 full picture it could be likely that a full picture of the new car is coming. Also with the Wentward we unofficialy named it 'bus' before we learned it's name. We need a name for this one other then 'new car'. Maybe it's logo letters?
It is coded well, apart from ability to create custom (performance) clutches, as well as we're currently missing any sort of clutch thermals app, which would be quite useful. As it stands currently, you tend to just burn the clutch if you try to drift with like 600-800hp.
Maybe try "lockSpring":2000 or something appropriately large value? There is torque setting too, just adjust manually for high power: https://wiki.beamng.com/FrictionClutch
thinking about it, there's no issues with the simulation, but maybe a UI app would be nice, that shows the temperature of the clutch and the % damage. The only things we get are "High Clutch Temperature" and "Clutch Overheating".
Video - Click to Play - Direct Link Here ya go I also exposed some more attributes to jbeam, should be easier to make special high performance versions now.
Wow, that was quick. I like how Beam developers listen to us and and actually try to make the game better by our feedback.
You guys work fast! (specifically you in this case) will we ever see a more in-depth transmission like we have with engines? (the addition of the ECU and engine block's being separate)
Really nitpicking here, but when going beyond 400c. The damage is a bit predictable, goes from 1.0 to 0.5 and 0.25. Maybe if it was a bit smoother. But I suppose it could be bits flying off the clutch
From real life experience, clutch fails something like this, first there is bit of smell, but clutch holds still fine, maybe feels bit soft. Next it starts slipping a bit with more smell, after that it all of sudden becomes very slippery and even after cooling down it just did not want to have that grab any more. It is not on/off, but it is kind of curve that is mild from both ends and very steep from the middle. Well, that is at least my experience from 80's Japanese FWD that had not much power, however we did try to burn rubber as much as it could do and eventually we got burned clutch. That clutch did not had any bite even next day, there was very little drive going to wheels, but we surely did do our best with it.
My understanding is that Nadeox1 does some renderings, which looks like from being in game. So, maybe best not to read too much of it, they are incredible piece of art, but not necessarily related to new versions of game.
