So this has been a long-running issue (a couple months now) but I've never had the time to sort it out. My graphics card isn't working. I have tried uninstalling drivers, rolling back drivers, using DDU, tried to see whether it was in the Hidden Devices section in Device Manager... nothing has worked. (Yes this means I've been playing BeamNG and other games using integrated graphics :/) I'm not the most tech-savvy person in the world, so maybe you guys could help? (My laptop is the MSI GS63VR 6RF Stealth Pro, with a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060.)
The GPU doesn't show up in device manager and isn't detected by any application on my laptop, and when I try to install drivers it comes up with a message saying there are no Nvidia GPUs detected. My GPU doesn't show up in Device Manager :/ Hmm, I don't know, I didn't even know that was a thing... could you tell me how to do it? (I'm not a computer expert BTW)
if its in warranty, make warranty claim. Otherwise, that GPU is dead, not really something that can be repaired
When you say it isn't working, do you mean the GPU has actually failed on you, isn't being recognized, or has never worked in the first place? Did you have any graphical errors like this?: Because this would signal a hardware failure (overheating, damaged, etc) If not, try seeing if the GPU is being seen by the computer in the Bios (the way of doing this differs per computer, google yours and find it), and if so, you should be able to enable it from there. Otherwise, if it isn't seen, it either is disconnected or has some sort of software/hardware fault that is rendering it unrecognizable. Being a laptop, you will probably have to do some fairly in-depth removal in order to make sure all connections are fully secure. If it never worked in the first place, you got a faulty one and need to contact customer service (assuming the computer/GPU is still under a warranty.)
It isn't being recognised. I'll check how to enable it in the bios, which seems to be the basic blue and white american megatrends one.
try going to nvidia settings and check if its set to "integrated graphics" or "high performance NVIDIA processor"
I cannot find the option to enable the GPU in the bios. I've searched online and found nothing. I don't have the Nvidia Control Panel on my laptop anywhere..
