Welcome to the Räval Automobiles showroom.

Here I will be sharing my Automation Creations.

    First up;Räval SuperCruiser '83

The Supercruiser is a van based comfortable long distance cruiser.
Equipped with a 3 liter V6, it can propell you from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.1 seconds.
The chassis is galvanised and the panels are made from corrosion resistant steel. It is also reliable and fairly economical, using just over 12 liters of fuel every 100 kilometers. Fuel must be at least 91 RON non leaded.
It has retro design, but modern safety features for 1983. Pricetag was also affordable: 19 999 USD.

    First Caze vehicle to upload;

Ordered by the government in 1970 to kill off all import cars, the Caze Comme was created.

Presented to the public in 1974, it featured a simplistic cast iron inline 4 producing 70HP. Despite it being a FR layout with manual transmission and low weight(860kg), it was no sportscar. People were angered with high fuel consumption and poor highway acceleration. Thankfully it took 80 RON fuel.

Despite all of the problems, it was still a success; mainly due to the ban of foreign cars, but also because of the low price of 6499 dollars.

There was also a "Secret" V8 version, titled "Caze Comme 3900SS", developed for government use. They were identical exterior wise, although they were usually painted black. It was built to last, have a lot of low end power and be still economical and simple. Tyre wear did increase a lot though:D

The Räval Automobiles was founded in 1944, with the first prototypes running in early 1946 and first cars delivered in July of 1947.

The first car was named Räval B415, "B" standing for boxer, "4" for four cylinders and "15" for 1.5 liters of displacement.

It was a small rather sporty car, whilst being reliable(65.0 in Automation) and safe(17.9).

The car weighed 760 kg, and was powered by a 1.5 liter 4 cylinder pushrod boxer engine making 45 KW(60 HP)/110 Nm and managing 10l/100km fuel economy(23 MPG). Fuel used was leaded 92 RON.
    Performance was decent too:
    • acceleration 0-100 km/h - 15.7 seconds
    • top speed - 145 km/h(90mph)

Three years after the B415 had launched, the B623 Super was introduced.

It was a higher end model of the B415. Main improvements were:
    • the engine- now using a 2235cc 6 cylinder boxer engine producing 72KW(98HP)
    • exterior mirrors
    • front fog lights
    • improved safety and comfort
It still kept the high reliability of the B415(Automation score - 65.1), aswell as using leaded 92 RON fuel. Fuel ecenomy did get worse: 13l/100km(18MPG)

    Performance was great for 1950:
    • Acceleration from 0-100km/h - 10.6 seconds
    • Top speed - 170 km/h (105mph)
After the B623 both it and the B415 were known as Räval mkI

The Räval mkI was never meant to be a success, it was meant to get the factories up and running, also getting the Räval name out. With a pricetag of 9750 for B415 and 11 999 for B623 Super, it still managed to sell well.

In 1990, Caze unveiled the D series, with D1600 available at launch.

Pictured above is the Caze D1600/91, meaning it's a delivery truck with a 1.6 liter engine using 91 RON fuel. There was also a 80 RON fuel version.
    Differences between the 91 and 80 models were a bit more involving than just the fuel type;
    • 91 models had 4 barrel carburetors instead of 2 barrel,
    • 91 models also came with front fog lights as standard,
    • 80 models were built strictly for Archana, therefore safety was less of a concern(Automation safety stats: 80- 15, 91-22)
    • 91 models started at 7599 dollars, 80 models started at 6999 dollars.
In March of 1991, Caze added the D2400/91.
(Pictured from left to right: D2400/91, D1600/91, D1600/80)

Based on the D1600/91, D2400/91 had a 2.4 liter fuel injected 4 cylinder engine and new bumpers(with trim pieces and integrated front foglights). It was priced at 7999 dollars.

These trucks were simple and reliable(80 models reliability- 65.4, 91 - 64.9, D2400 - 67.2) with a large cargo area and had a one ton capacity.

    Quick stats;
    Caze D1600/91
    Top speed: 150km/h(93mph)
    Acceleration 0-100 km/h: 18.5 s
    Weight: 1320 kg(2910lbs)
    Power: 55KW(75HP)

    Caze D1600/80
    Top speed: 139km/h(86mph)
    Acceleration 0-100km/h: 22.8 s
    Weight: 1271kg(2802lbs)
    Power: 45KW(61HP)

    Caze D2400/91
    Top speed: 160km/h(100mph)
    Acceleration 0-100km/h: 14.0 s
    Weight: 1388kg(3060lbs)
    Power: 70KW(95HP)

Reception was quite good, companies loved it. Delivery drivers however were not pleased by the utter lack of any power in the 1600 models. They did come with a locking rear differential as standard, so getting stuck in mud was a bit less frequent.

As the Räval mkI was used to build the factories, in 1954 the model T and model S were made available for people to purchase.

Räval model-T B415; "T" stands for transport truck, B415 shows that the engine is from the MkI Räval B415 without any modifications.

The model-T was a basic utility vehicle, utilising the reliable technologies from the MkI.

With the 1.5 liter Boxer 4, it cost 7390. With 45KW(60HP) and 885 kgs(1950lbs) of weight, it managed 0-100 km/h in 18 seconds and top speed of 130 km/h(81mph). It has a 4 speed manual transmission with a locking differential.

Fuel economy was adequate: 13 l/100km(18mpg), using 92 RON leaded fuel.

The main concern for reviewers were brakes. When Räval Automobiles were asked about it, they just said that better brakes simply could not fit into the wheels, and bigger wheels would have been too expensive to maintain.

Räval model-S B415; "S" stands for sedan, "B415" for the engine used, which was also trim level indicator.

The model-S was a family sedan, based on the MkI technology.

Equipped with the B415 engine and the corresponding base trim level it cost 7950.
    The 45KW/60HP propelled the 952kg/2100lbs model-S from 0 to 100km/h in 18.5 seconds, with a top speed of 135 km/h(84mph) and fuel economy of 12 l/100km(20mpg)

The model-S B415 was received well, with the concerns with brake performance still present. Built to last for generations, being just affordable enough and having just enough space for everyone and everything, it sold well enough to keep Räval Automobiles growing.

    Räval model-S B622; A luxurious version of the model-S B415.

The model-S B622 was built using the 2.2 liter 6 cylinder boxer engine from Räval B623 Super, the 622 number was applied to save 623 for the more sporty MkI.

The B622 was equipped with a premium radio(therefore having an antenna), also the seats were outsourced from a luxury upholstery company. Safety was improved by installing the best comfort brakes money can buy in early 1950s, but the stopping distance was still seemingly endless. It also came with front foglights.

Costing 15 000, it was only for the rich to use as comfortable speedy dailys.

Some stats of the Räval model-S B622:
    • 2.2 liter B6 engine with 2 carburettors producing 72KW(98HP)
    • 4 speed manual gearbox
    • 0-100 km/h in 13.5 seconds
    • top speed of 155 km/h (96mph)
    • weight - 1120kg (2470lbs)

In 1968, Räval Automobiles revealed the Räval GTB6, a limited production hommage to the Räval MkI.

It was built to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Räval Automobiles, but got delayed to 1968 reveal and 1969 for purchasing.

It was only produced in 1969, and only 62 were built.

It was the last car to use the old pushrod 6 cylinder boxer engine from 1948. It was tuned to make 101KW(135HP), which was not a lot. The engine was placed transversly in the back of the car, with sporty intentions. The car was built on a steel spaceframe with fiberglass panels and weighed 1250 kg(2755lbs).

Due to poor performance, the GTB6 was called "the slowest supercar ever", since it got from 0-100 km/h in just over 10 seconds and had a top speed of 175 km/h (108 mph).

However, it was never meant to be a supercar, just a collectors item, since only 60 cars were sold.
The price for the GTB6 was 27 000, hardly supercar money.

Below are two versions of the Räval GTB6; one with open headlights, one with closed.

At the 1994 autoshow, Räval had exponated a concept car titled "Offroad Sportscar Concept".

It was meant to be the perfect compromise between some off-road capabilities and sportscar handling. It was mid-engined, all-wheel drive with lockable differentials, skidplates and a high ground clearence. And as a bonus it was a convertible.

Räval said, that if anyone would be interested of getting one of these cars, it would cost 25 000. If it would be put to mass production the cost would be only 19 000.

    Some stats:
    • 2.8 liter naturally aspirated 6 cylinder boxer engine
    • Peak power: 150KW (204HP)
    • Weight: 1261 kg (2780lbs)
    • Acceleration 0-100km/h : 6.8 seconds
    • Top speed : 190 km/h (118 mph)
    • 5 speed manual AWD with locking differentials
    • Equipped with chunky off-road tyres

In 1974 Caze made possibly the cheapest car in the Automationverse,
    the Caze Ticane 360.

With 5 seats, 80km/h (50mph) top speed and a pricetag of 3400 Automation Dollars, it sure seemed like the cheapest car ever.

Cost saving measures were taken to the extreme:
    • the cheapest paint is used
    • the engine cover is unpainted plastic
    • there are no wires in any of the moving body panels(that is the reason the headlights are connected to the bumper)
    • there are no usual Caze emblems: stickers are used instead
    • all lights and door handles are cheap and easy to install
    • extremely cheap tyres are used; also helpful when being replaced
    • a very short exhaust is used, ending just in front of the drivers door

    Performance stats:
    • Top speed: 80 km/h (50 mph)
    • Weight: 603 kg (1329 lbs)
    • Engine: 360cc 3 cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine with a single barrel carburetor
    • Power: 12 KW (16 HP) @ 5800 rpm
    • Torque: 25 Nm (18 ft-lb) @ 3700 rpm
    • Fuel: 92 RON leaded
    • Fuel economy: 9 l/100km (26 mpg)
    • Braking from 100 km/h: 71 meters (233 ft)
    • Automation reliability: 56.6
    • Automation safety: 0.0
    • Automation service costs: 251.1 Automation Dollars

Overall, the Caze Ticane 360 was just about usable enough for people. Even if it broke down, it was cheap and easy to fix.

In 1963, Räval introduced their first ever off-roader, the model-F.

It was a very capable off-roader with all wheel drive, locking differentials and a low range. Utilising the by now ancient B415 engine, it was a reliable and easy to maintain car, although a bit underpowered. The asking price was 10 650 dollars.

The whole car was designed to be used in harsh enviroments; from forests to deserts, in mud and snow. The interior was made to be pressure-washable, the light weight and somewhat low centre of mass(thanks to the small boxer engine) made it very easy to handle. The model-F also came with with power steering as standard. It had 5 seats and a half ton cargo capacity.

Solid axles with coli springs are used both front and back, making the car even more robust. Coupled with short wheelbase and overhangs, it seemed almost unstoppable.

Statistics involving the Räval model-F (B415)
    • Engine: 1.5 liter 4 cylinder carburated boxer with an output of 45KW(60HP)
    • Fuel type: 92RON leaded
    • Weight: 1030 kg(2271 lbs)
    • Gearbox: 4 speed manual with low range and difflocks, all wheel drive
    • Tyres: Chunky offroad tyres- P175/105R15 both front and back.
    • Brakes: Drum brakes - 275mm 2LS in front, 275mm SLS back
    • Acceleration0-100 km/h: 21.3 seconds
    • Top speed: 124 km/h(77 mph)

In 1975, Räval revealed that a sportscar was coming in the following couple of years.

By 1975 it had been over 15 years since Räval made a sportscar, and even then it was a limited production hommage to the original.
Therefore the pressure was high for the next one to be the greatest sportscar Räval ever made.

    In 1977, the Räval GTB6RR was unveiled;

It was a spiritual successor to the GTB6 from 1969, although there were almost no technical similarities between them.

The Räval GTB6RR stands for: Gran Tourer Boxer 6 cylinder Rear engined Rear wheel drive.
It brought with it a new generation all aluminium boxer engine with overhead camshafts and 3 valves per cylinder.
It had a galvanised chassis and aluminium panelling.

The GTB6RR is a purpose built sportscar, with 2 extra seats in the back.
Price was set at 16 950 dollars.

    Some statistics:
    • Engine: 2.0 liter naturally aspirated 6 cylinder boxer with a single 4 barrel carburettor
    • Power: 98KW (133HP) @6300rpm
    • Torque: 167NM (123ft-lb) @4000rpm
    • Weight: 854kg (1883lbs)
    • Acceleration 0-100km/h: 7.2 seconds
    • Top speed: 185km/h (115mph)
    • Braking 100-0km/h: 35m (115ft)
    • Weight distribution F/R: 39/61 %

In 1983 Räval revealed a more powerful turbocharged version of the GTB6RR

The Turbo version used the same 6 cylinder aluminium boxer engine, but bored to 2.4 liters and had a turbocharger mounted for the first time in Räval's history.

    Stats for the GTB6RR Turbo:
    • Engine: 2.4 liter turbocharged 6 cylinder boxer with twin DCOE carburettors
    • Power: 166KW (225HP) @6300rpm
    • Torque: 293NM (216ft-lb) @4400rpm
    • Weight: 907kg (2000lbs)
    • Acceleration 0-100km/h: 4.8 seconds
    • Top speed: 220km/h (136mph)
    • Braking 100-0km/h: 35m (115ft)
    • Weight distribution F/R: 38/62 %
The price of the Turbo model was high though: 27 000 dollars, which made it very rare compared to the NA version.

In 1963, Räval Automobiles announced the Caze brand.

Cars with the Caze brand name were cheap and simple, rough and reliable, easy to drive and practical. But mainly, they were just inferior in comfort and prestige to the Räval branded cars.

The first vehicle that Caze made was simply called "A", followed by a number describing the engine size, in this case "1200"
It was launched in spring of 1963 with three bodystyles; a 3-door hatchback, a small van and a small pick-up.Unfortunately that meant there was no budget left for different engines.

    Caze A1200- hatchback:

Despite being one of the cheapest cars on the market(4999 Automation dollars), it still had a galvanised chassis, a 4 speed manual transmission, 5 seats, high reliability(65.8 in AM) and was quite nice to drive thanks to low weight.

Performance was decent for the time:
    • 1193cc 4 cylinder cast iron engine with a 2-barrel carburettor producing 40KW(54HP)@4800rpm and 82NM(60ft-lb)@3900rpm
    • Weighing only 569kg(1255lbs)
    • Managing a top speed of 125 km/h(77mph)
    • Accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 14.5 seconds
Downside to the simple engine came in the form of bad fuel economy:12L/100km of leaded 92 RON fuel(20mpg)

    Caze A1200Pick-Up:

The Pick-Up version was very similar to the hatchback, being one of the cheapest "trucks" on the market(4875 Automation dollars)

    Statistics:
    • Same engine as hatchback - 40KW(54HP)@4800rpm and 82NM(60ft-lb)@3900rpm
    • Weight - 560kg (1235lbs)
    • Top speed - 125km/h (77mph)
    • Acceleration 0-100 km/h - 14.2 seconds
    • Economy - 12.5 L/100km (19mpg)
    Caze A1200Van:

The Van version was one of the cheapest vans on the market(4950 Automation dollars)

    Stats:
    • Same 1.2 liter engine: 40KW(54HP)@4800rpm and 82NM(60ft-lb)@3900rpm
    • Weight - 588 kg(
    • Top speed - 125km/h
    • Acceleration 0-100 km/h - 15.0 seconds
    • Economy - 12.5 L/100km (19mpg)
Overall the Caze A1200 was an excellent start to a cheap and reliable brand. Companies were buying the vans and trucks in bunch, and the hatch found a fanbase within young guys who raced and modified them. Everyone was pleased with the high reliability and cheap parts, but were not so fond of the extremely cheap and uncomfortable interior. It was so spartan inside that even the sub 5000 pricing almost seemed like a rip-off.

Whilst on the topic of modifing the Caze A1200...

Here is one such example, with some parts painted black, adding a random decal and some yellow foglights.
Ofcourse the engine has been modified too: A 4 barrel carburettor with no air filter was installed, fuel mixture was richened, ignition timing changed and a more open exhaust for some extra sound and power. And all that got an extra 8 KW(10HP)... Well, at least the improved throttle response and extra loudness made it feel faster:D Which surely compensated for the increased fuel consumption:D

In 1979 Caze introduced the long awaited facelift to the Caze Comme.

It was an extensive rework, including all new exterior detailing and a brand new interior for extra comfort and safety. The engine got reworked too, getting some extra power and fuel efficiency. Even the suspension received improved shock absorbers.

    Quick stats:
    • 1.6 liter 8 valve carburetted inline 4 reworked to produce 62KW(84HP)
    • Using nearly a quarter less fuel than the original Comme
    • Weighing a bit more: 897kg
    • Accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 13 seconds and topping out at 150 km/h(93mph)
    • Price for the updated Comme was 7599 Automation dollars
Whilst reception was good, the facelifted Comme was not as loved as original and therefore fell into thrashers hands. The main culprit for that was the early 80s plastic design that just did not age as well as the original.
    --- Post updated ---
Yeah, I'm terrible with names:D I spent days on thinking of the company names alone, and the result wasn't exactly great:D

Well, supposedly Räval is an estonian company with their cheap cars being branded as Cazes. Problem with that is the fact that in the 1940s Estonia was a part of the soviet union and therefore it would mean that Räval would have been russian company until the early 1990s. But being a fictional company I like to alter the history a bit and making Estonia independent, with being a communistical country for a brief period of time. All that does mean that I should come up with a fictional country aswell...:)

In 1979 Räval introduced the third generation Model-S.

Being the main Räval model, it was made to look as good as possible, handle nicely, last forever and be comfortable.

It brought with it the new aluminium boxer 6 engine lineup, with the V8 pulled straight from the 2nd gen Model-S(currently unavailable to download).
Having galvanised chassis and corrosion resistant panels, disc brakes on all wheels, alloy wheels as standard and all new safety equipment, it was a serious step up from the old model.
