Okay, so I've got my first question.

As an avid keyboard user I would like to know if currently there is any way to improve the responsiveness of keyboard steering controls in the game. My first try was rather disappointing - steering is slow, unresponsive and laggy.

As I read, keyboard seems to be a problematic piece of equipment in this game, though I am not sure why. Especially considering all games worldwide work with keyboards A-ok. I know this is an issue of realism vs. "arcade" driving but... what if just want to use BeamNG like an arcade driving simulation? :) Can I?

I found this thread here that, apparently, solved the problem. However, it is six years old so I would like to make sure if this is still "a thing":

If not, do you guys have any plans for implementing a "realism" and "arcade" play modes? That would sure be fun and a welcomed feature for all us "pianists".

There are quite lot of settings in the controls menu.
Search for your keyboard bindings, and you should find various 'filters' mode:

Drift for example would be more immediate, less smoothed than Grip.
Direct means absolutely no smoothing, so as soon you press the key, your steering will snap full lock.
    Try playing around.

    A controller is suggested tho.

Aaah, excellent. So this is indeed the way it should work.

I guess this is what I am after. I'll try it out as soon as I get a chance. Thank you. :)

As far as the wheel is concerned... I don't really like the idea of throwing money for a piece of equipment that I will use for one game only... And I don't even have too much in a way of a physical storage space in my room. ;) Maybe in the future. Certainly not now.

Okay, so we're back with this question...

I switched all my controls to direct and cars are still ridiculously unresponsive.

It seems like there is a problem with the wheels themselves... As if they could tilt out by about 15 degrees from a zero position and not more. A relatively simple cornering requires reduction in speed to about 30 kph? Please... Even a lawnmower is more maneuverable...

What is wrong with these cars / steering / game...? o_O

Problem is you are steering way too much, so unlike in other games where steering lock is reduced automatically, in BeamNG you will get full steering lock and if you turn wheels all the way at speed, that will result wheels sliding, causing understeer.

What you need to to reduce steering lock, is to set steering limited by speed options on filtering page:

@Nadeox1 why it says Options > Graphics at the top? Bug we are all too used to live with as it has been there as long as I remember :D
