I can tell you what is going to happen. People are going to post “aaaaaaaaa(...)aaaaaa this mod sucks go die” just like every other review system that requires a charachter limit.
a a a a a a a a a a a is whats going to happen. I say just use the report button, and add a new category of "this review does not contribute anything"
The system could also be changed by making the moderators review your review and see if it's acceptable/constructive enough to be shown in the reviews section. Actually, that sounds like a good idea now that I think about it.
This is an entirely new idea... What about a "badge" given to users who have a 100% clean record for moderation and postings and have atleast 100 posts. When a mod notices a user whom sticks out from the rest for good behavior and isn't childish they are given this "badge". This "badge" allows them to post reviews along with some possible other things. This would help filter out the less mature users from posting bad reviews. The badge could be shown on their profile on the sidebar like your post count or be hidden. It could be named something like "Verified user" or something along those lines. Whom
There’s really no simple solution to this type of thing in my opinion, but some of these are too not-simple. An idea of mine would maybe be if you write crappy reviews, 3, 5, 10 times, it gets reported, the devs keep track of that and after so many crappy reviews that function gets restricted. Albeit simple, and more thought would have to be put into it, something like it might work. Who knows.
The moderators have said before they aren't interested in doing anything related to badges or special ranks for forum members. Even if they were to do that, the list of users who would receive such a badge is pretty short and defeats the whole purpose of having it.
Oof, we have some hot topic here. The point is, why would you harrass someone for their identity or something? Reviews are for critising mods, not for telling someone to go and die.
This is gonna create a two-class society on the forum. I’m a pretty new active member, and I think that if we implement a “verified user” badge then we might discourage new people from posting. It’s a good idea in theory, but in practice it might not be. I guess we already do have this with the message counter. (More messages=more respect?)
İn reality we can't do anything. İt all depends on members who doesn't behave. They just don't think with common sense i guess.
Simple solution. Add a role to users that simply revokes their review privileges that would be assigned if a user abuses the review system.
It's unfortunate that some people can't even use common sense when posting reviews. Instead, they abuse the review system by posting threats, insulting and harassing other users, and so on. The least we can do is report and move on.
To be fair, some of them were made before my post on page #3 where I was pointing that's not the good way to review. I hope they got the message now
I'm honestly surprised how well this thread has gone down, everyone in here have been more or less respectful of other people.
